Remember Your Creator

A Biblical Point of View Believing The Bible Is True and Literal Establishes A Set of Boundaries With Which We Expect Other Evidence To Align. – Land Animals Created The Same Day As Man. – A World-Wide Flood with Cataclysmic Consequences. – An Ark 300 x 50 x 30 Cubits To Preserve Life. – A World History Seemingly In The Range of Thousands of Years (Not Millions.)

Does The Fossil Evidence for Dinosaurs Conflict With This Worldview? Secondly, Is There Evidence to Actually Support This Worldview Rather Than A Macro-Evolutionary Point of View?

Genesis 1 & 2 Describe A Mature & Functional Creation Creation Is A Miraculous Event: Everything From Nothing. (Gen 1:1,3,9…) Mature Plant Life on Day 3 – Genesis 1:9-13 Mature Ocean Life & Flying Animals on Day 5 – Genesis 1:20-23

Considering The Fossils Dinosaurs were real creatures that did exis t: – Fossils have been discovered proving they existed Fossil – Preserved traces of organisms from the past An animal, plant, or other organism becoming fossilized is actually a rare thing since most remains get destroyed – Dinosaur research has been a relatively recent thing: First discovery in 1822 by physician Dr. Gideon Mantrell… named the species Iguanadon (Iguana-like Teeth) 1842 British scientist Richard Owen coined the term “dinosaur” which means “fearfully great lizard” – Takes right circumstances for typical fossils to form: Buried quickly, oxygen cut off, slows decay of bones & teeth Water containing minerals seeps into bones and harden, eventually the bones decay & the minerals replace them

How Rare Are Dinosaur Fossils? ~95% of all fossils are shallow marine organisms, such as corals and shellfish. ~95% of the remaining 5% are algae and plants. ~95% of the remaining 0.25% are invertebrates, including insects. The remaining 0.0125% are vertebrates, mostly fish.

Fossil Creation Does NOT Take Millions of Years Is this a caveman’s hardhat?

Is A Flood A Reasonable Explanation For The Large Number of Dinosaur Fossils Found Together?

“After A Seasonal Flood: This scene of 145 million years ago is based on clues found in the rock face behind you. Carcasses brought downstream by the fast moving, muddy water were washed onto a sandbar. Some were buried completely by tons of sand – their bones preserved in a nearly perfect state” (Sign at Dinosaur National Monument on the Utah/Colorado border – Taken from Dinosaurs Unleashed, Apologetics Press)

“The fossil bones were strewn together throughout an ancient flood deposit in Chile’s Atacama desert, suggesting that they were animals or corpses caught up in a flood perhaps 110 million years ago at the beginning of the Cretaceous period.” (Quoted from Robert Sanders in Dinosaurs Unleashed, Apologetics Press)

“Hypsilophodons have only been found on the Isle of Wright. Paleontologist Dr. Dave Matrill, of Portsmouth University, feels that as many as 5,000 Hypsilophodon specimens exist on the island, all of which drowned when trapped in a tremendous flash flood.” (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A664616)

What Were Dinosaurs Like? People usually picture dinosaurs as enormous angry hungry destructive creatures: – Some dinosaurs were huge (Argentinosaurus was 100 tons) but some were small (Compsognathus was 3 pounds) – Bigger creatures are alive today – The largest blue whale ever found was 110 ft long & 194 tons – 190,000 lbs more! – Remember, God gave man power of all animals (Gen 1:27-28)

Dinosaurs, Evolution, & Faith: Making Sense of It all What happened to all the dinosaurs? What caused their extinction? – Were they killed in the flood? If alive, Noah would’ve taken dino- saurs on the ark (Genesis 6:19-20) Was this an impossible feat? The ark was 1,500,000 ft 3, it could hold over 520 boxcars, it was bigger than a football field Dinosaurs varied in size… the big ones were big & the little ones were little! Taking young animals makes more sense anyway

Dinosaurs, Evolution, & Faith: Making Sense of It all What happened to all the dinosaurs? What caused their extinction? – Some believe that after the flood the earth’s atmosphere changed: That before the flood there was a layer of water above the earth and below its crust (Gn 1:6-8; Ps 24:1) If true, this would have created a “perfect greenhouse” where plants and animals flourished (Gen 2:5-6) When the flood took place, all of this would have changed greatly (Genesis 7:11) It may be that the earth was no longer hospitable for their huge growth and ultimately even their survival

Does The Bible Talk About Dinosaurs? God speaks of a Leviathan (Job 41:1-33; Ps 104:25-26) – Some think this describes a crocodile or a whale – but neither of these creatures truly fit this description – Clubs, spears, & swords don’t harm him (vs. 7, 26) – You can’t lay your hands on him – wont do it twice! (vs. 8) – Strong legs, powerful frame (vs. 12) – Skin or skeleton you cannot remove (vs 13) – Terrifying teeth (vs. 14) – Back is like rows of shields sealed together (vs. 15) – Neck is full of strength (vs. 22) & tremendous in size (vs. 25) – Water boils with his commotion (vs. 31-32) – Sneezes forth flashes of light, eyes like the dawn, flaming torches from his mouth, smoke from nose (vs. 18-20)

Does The Bible Talk About Dinosaurs? By the description given by evolutionists, the answer would be no: – Millions of years ago, separate from humans, evolved over a long period of time  Totally contradicts the Bible! God speaks to Job about the Behemoth (Job 40:15-24) – He describes the Behemoth right alongside other animals which we know existed – ox, goats, donkeys, horses, etc – Behemoth sounds strange, but so does the ostrich! – The Behemoth was not a hippo or an elephant as some think

Could Dinosaurs & Humans Really Co-Exist? Since dinosaurs were so powerful and destructive is this even reasonable? Remember, God gave man dominion over them! (Gen 1:27-28) – We’ve done some pretty amazing things with some extremely large and powerful animals – why not dinosaurs? –James 3:7-8

Some Amazing Evidence Supporting A Biblical Worldview…

Dinosaurs, Evolution, & Faith: Making Sense of It all The discoveries we’ve made about dinosaurs continuously support the Bible & God’s creation! – When did dinosaurs begin to exist? How long ago were they alive? 6000 or 300+ million yrs ago? – In 2005, a T-Rex fossil was found that was believed to be 70 million years old: One problem: It’s bones still contained soft tissue of blood vessels, cells, and the bone protein matrix – How? This wasn’t a one time occurrence – More dinosaur fossils have been found containing soft tissue

Instead of questioning their preconceived theories they question away the evidence or ignore it altogether. Is this not exactly what the Jewish leaders did concerning Jesus? (John 9:14-34)

Coelacanth Evolution Says: Appeared 410 million years ago Extinct 65 million years ago It developed leg-like fins and grew into a land reptile

What Can We Take Away? Dinosaur Fossils Do Not Contradict A Biblical Worldview. Dinosaurs Demonstrate God’s Extraordinary Creative Power. Dinosaurs Remind Us That The Flood Was A Time of Great Loss. Dinosaurs Remind Us We Have Much To Learn About The Past. Dinosaurs Remind Us Life Here Does Not Last Forever.
