CRICOS No. 00213J a university for the world real R Overview A joint venture between UGC and QUT Designed specifically for current staff members at ANY university in Sri Lanka Based on a collaborative cohort model of supervision. –This is to ensure student satisfaction –There will be a cohort coordinator –Students will attend cohort meetings –Will promote peer support QUT would like to admit a cohort of 10-15 Sri Lankan academics each year for the next three years. Total = 30 to 45 academics supported by UGC. Supports any discipline.

CRICOS No. 00213J a university for the world real R Joint PhD Model Two Universities AND a 1+1+1+ model. –Student is enrolled in both Universities from the start. –YEAR 1: Sri Lankan University (Stage 2, 3mths) –YEAR 2: QUT (Confirmation,12 mths). Living allowance = AUS $25,000 –YEAR 3/4: Sri Lankan University (Final Seminar) –QUT offers a tuition fee sponsorship for 3+ yrs. Supervision: –TWO QUT Supervisors (Principal and Associate) Plus ONE or TWO Sri Lankan Supervisors who are accredited as EXTERNAL supervisors. Student is examined using both Universities’ processes. Student receives two certificates with one (min) or both (preferable) noting the Joint program.

CRICOS No. 00213J a university for the world real R UGC Requirements 1.Hold a special degree with a 2 nd class upper division or above 2.You must be a permanent staff member of a Sri Lankan University 3.Must register as a PhD student at UoC or UoP 4.Must have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 with no individual band score being less than 6.0

Examination process takes 3-6 months. –THUS the QUT PhD is 3-4 years. QUT’s dominant pathway for Admission to the PhD is Honours 1 or 2A OR Equivalent. A proposal, NOT a report! –Should reflect that you have done your homework! –Should reflect your understanding of the topic –Must be aligned with your capabilities/knowledge/skills (e.g., demonstrated through previous research work) – Must match your CV You are trying to convince someone that you are an asset to him/her OR the institution Must be a feasible project (i.e., a 3 yr PhD project)
