Please TRY YOUR COSTUMES ON now. By the time Tech Week roles around, we won’t be able to fix anything! Please note, the costumes in this deck are those that are distributed to a large number of kids. If your child has a costume that is unique (one or two versions), they are NOT included in the presentation. Put your child’s name on everything to ensure their items get back in their boxes. Costumes should be stored in milk crate style boxes. Please put your child’s nametag from their costume bag on their crate. It includes their name and roles. It is highly recommended that children wear a base layer (tank top/tighter shorts/ leotard) in a light color (nude/white). There is no privacy backstage. If there are major issues with your costume, please reach out to Tracy Zavelson on the Costume Committee (tzavelson@yahoo.com). However, most costumes will need some adjustment, so please feel free to use safety pins, needle/thread, tape or glue to make sure your actor is looking their best! Final Costume Notes

Stage Make Up

On stage, one’s features must be clearly visible to everyone sitting in the theater, even the people in the very back row. Both male and female actors should use basic stage makeup to enhance their natural features. Stage lights are VERY strong and will wash out your features if they are not properly made up. Make Up - General

 Nutshell/bare-bones version: Get some color (blush) on their cheeks to give them a healthy rosy look, get some natural lip color on the lips, and darken the eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil, especially if they have blonde or light colored eyebrows.  More detailed version: If your little-one will tolerate the process, some eyeliner under the lash-line of the bottom lashes will open the eyes up significantly. A little color is needed on the cheeks and lips because stage lights tend to wash out the face. For lipstick, choose a matte color that is slightly darker than the actor's natural lip color. Use a matching lip liner first to help the lipstick last. Darken the eyebrows with any eyebrow pencil.  Note: After all make up is applied, set the makeup with some neutral colored powder. This will also reduce any shine. Make Up (Boys)

 Nutshell/bare-bones version: The girls should wear “heavy makeup”. This is essentially the same thing you (Mom) might wear out on a daily basis, but slightly more of it. Stage lights wash out a lot of color, so it is ok to go heavier than you would normally see in casual street wear.  More detailed version: Apply makeup in a similar manner to the nutshell, only more of it. Everything must be more dramatic than a woman would normally wear because it must be able to be seen from the back row of the theater. Eyeliner, shadow, mascara, blush, lipstick & lip liner are all appropriate.  Note: After all make up is applied, set the makeup with some neutral colored powder. This will also reduce any shine. Make up (Girls)

Please have kids arrive on show night in Costumes and Full Makeup (less Leads that have pre-arranged make up times) Please impress upon your child the importance of being gentle with the costumes to ensure that they hold up over the run of the show. Unfortunately, we won’t have time to replace them if they are damaged. Feel free to put additional make up, hair spray, brushes, etc., in your child’s box. If the backstage parents are able to assist the kids with touch ups, they will. Please make sure there is NO food in your box. Food is not allowed in the backstage of the church. Final (Yet Important) Notes
