2 Public Warning in CMA CMA is on the way to establish a nation-wide all hazard all media public warning dissemination system –Organization 1 National center 31 Provincial centers 328 Prefecture centers 2431 County offices –Communication Network Domestic service network (CMA intranet) is isolated from internet, fast, safe and highly controlled. Terrestrial wide band network, satellite two way communication, satellite broadcast International connections, WMO RTH Beijing, WIS, GTS –Service Public, security and natural resource oriented meteorology

8 History of DAB Working group of emergency managers, IT experts and telecommunication experts convened in May 2007 to start DAB DAB draft recommendations of transmission and receiving was proposed in Oct. 2007 Draft was in field tested and revised in April 2008 Platform Software developed in 2008 First batch production of receivers, Nov,2008 Pilot system of 2140 DAB receivers was set up in 2009 6 provinces are engaged in pilot system for testing and assessment now

12 Regulatory Efforts Local government, CMA local office and mobile operators are working together to promote cell broadcast public warning. More than twenty provinces have announced to start cell broadcast public warning.
