2 Project Topics How does weather impact our community? Geography Map Skills Diagrams/Text Features Compare and Contrast weather systems Public Service Announcement Simple Research Report Non fiction text  Students will research about the force five: hurricanes, floods, blizzards, tornadoes, and drought. All of this weather impacts communities in different ways. We will research how these storms form, what regions are most likely to be impacted, and how people can stay safe in adverse weather conditions. We will also continue looking at mapping skills and geography, and labeling diagrams and text features in non-fiction text. The students will also be in literature circles reading I survived: Hurricane Katrina 2005. Project #4: Storm Chasers

3 Noise Level 2 Monday – Friday You will be reading your weather chapter book with your reading group. Be sure to use your thinking voice as you read and make predictions. Record your predictions and your findings on your record sheet. 4 Noise Level 0-1 Monday Pick A Pronoun on your laptop Tuesday Grammar Mad Libs – fill in the blanks with the correct verbs and pronouns to create a fluent story. Turn in when you have finished Syllable Share in working with words. Continue practicing using a dry erase marker on the laminated stories. 5 Noise Level 1 Monday Ask-Explain-List with this week’s vocabulary words: numb, escape, fled, shuddered, image, newspaper. Tuesday Syllable Share- Choose an initial syllable card THEN continue choosing ending syllable cards until both syllable cards create a word. Record your answers on your answer sheet. Wednesday Weather Fluency Passage – Practice reading your passage 2 times before reading it into Audacity. Thursday Syllable Cut-Ups – cut each word into it’s syllables and glue them onto your chart.
