If I walk I use less energy than if I run. So the speed that I move is a variable for the amount of energy I use.
The sky is variable since sometimes it is cloudy, or sunny, or rainy, or snowy….
We can change the amount of energy
we use if we walk or run. So the
amount of energy we use is variable.
So variables can change. Many times you have control of it, but sometimes you do not!

fair test – You conduct a fair test by making sure that you change one thing or factor at a time
while keeping all other things or conditions the same.
Maria wants to test how high different balls will bounce so a fair test for Maria will only change the type of balls tested.
How hard you let it go.
The floor it bounces on.
How aired up it is!
The height you drop it from.
Can you think of anything else? I can’t!
What would be some things that wouldn’t change in Maria’s experiment for a fair test?
Only the type of ball should change everything else should be the same.
