FACULTY NEEDS Recommen dations: We will alert users of new items to consider for their profiles. Users decide which activities cannot be viewed by the public. Regular alerts for new articles, grants, and patents matched to profile Tools to verify and add data to profile by user or proxy Settings to regulate sharing of profile data Data export to CV, Reports, ResearcherID, and InCites University data sources are used to define the list of active faculty and staff

Forms can be customized for your institution’s needs MINIMAL DATA ENTRY – SIMPLE FORMS

8 DISAMBIGUATION & ResearcherID Authors get a unique identifier (ResearcherID #), searchable in Web of Science Author and institution get public exposure and encourage collaborations

InCites metrics can be integrated with Research In View 9 InCites normalized citation metrics add more performance context to Research In View profiles. Research In View profiles can be used to generate an InCites Research Performance Profile, for consistency.

NIH BIOSKETCH TEMPLATE - WORKFLOW NIH Biosketch template on the Documents page of Research In View (RIV) Application. User will see a Document Preview of their NIH Biographical Sketch matching that of current standards.

NIH BIOSKETCH TEMPLATE – WORKFLOW CONTINUED Document Preview will map current RIV activities set to user’s biosketch template.

NIH BIOSKETCH TEMPLATE – WORKFLOW CONTINUED User can: Create a customized Activities Set to apply to their NIH Biosketch template. Create unique Activity Sets to apply for multiple Biographical Sketches submissions (i.e. multiple grants)

NIH BioSketch Template – Workflow continued User will be able to export their NIH Biosketch template into Word and PDF documents.

NIH BIOSKETCH TEMPLATE – WORKFLOW CONTINUED User will be able to edit the Word Document of their Biosketch template before submission.

ADMINISTRATOR NEEDS

CORE ADMINISTRATOR NEEDS DATA AND SYSTEM INTEGRATION SUPPORT FOR DATA INTEGRATION AND SETUP JOINT APPOINTMENTS FLEXIBLE WORKFLOW FOR REVIEW AND PROMOTION REPORTING BY SCHOOL, DIVISION, REPORTING BY ACTIVITY: PUBLICATIONS, GRANTS PRIVACY SETTING & DATA CONTROL AUTO POPULATE WEB PAGES CUSTOMIZABLE REPORTING

ADMINISTRATOR NEEDS CONT’D CUSTOMIZABLE REPORTING COURSE DATA REPORTING AD HOC REPORTING JOINT APPOINTMENTS DELEGATE AUTHORITY ACCREDITATION REPORTING DISPLAY GRANT & PUB INFORMATION GENERATE P&T AND ANNUAL FACULTY REVIEW UPDATING PROFILE PAGES BIOSKETCH & TEMPLATES

REPORTING - User can apply filters to multiple activity types and view detailed reports across Activity, Group, and Faculty report pages. User can Filter and Group By to view meaningful data for specific reporting purposes. Answering question(s) like: – Which of my Grants are for projects under $15,000. – How many published journal articles did the Biology Department create in the past 6 months with a percent authorship greater than 80%?

ATTRIBUTE LEVEL REPORTING

REPORTING - CONTINUED User can navigate across multiple reports (Activity, Faculty, and Group) on the current filter applied to see different levels of reporting.

GROUP REPORTS 24 Run group reports to compare activities across faculty members within a group. Choose any group of activities for the report.

FACULTY REPORTS 25 Summarize activities for one faculty member

CUSTOMIZATION

LEVEL OF CUSTOMIZATION BRANDING & LINKS ACTIVITY TYPES & DATA ELEMENTS DOCUMENT FORMATTING AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM INTEGRATION CUSTOM VIEWS FACULTY DEPARTMENT OUTPUTS

University administrators can create a custom group of individuals for running reports. 28 CUSTOM GROUPS Show only custom groups.

Setting up a custom submission round: Submission round manager sets all of the criteria and instructions, and invites users to the submission round. SUBMISSION ROUNDS-P&T workflow

SUBMISSION ROUNDS Faculty members can track the submissions they must submit and which ones they have already submitted.

SUBMISSION ROUNDS A submission round manager can track the status of submissions, and click to view users’ submitted documents.

MANAGE USERS Add new administrator, edit existing administrator information or disable administrator account(s). Add new user, search for user, edit existing user information (name, user name, roles, groups, integration user Id, enable or disable a user), reset password, and auto login to a user account.

MANAGE GROUPS Add schools, departments, and research centers to create institution reporting structure KAUST

RESEARCH IN VIEW ADMINSTRATIVE CONSOLE – CUSTOMIZATION Institution can customize activity pick list to each departments requirements. Institution can customize any text resource in the Research In View user interface. Institution customize activity type and attributes to meet institution requirements. For example: Change Clinical Trials to Ensayos Clinicos.

CUSTOM ACTIVITY TYPE Institution can add its own activity types via the administrative console. Attributes can be added to existing activity types.

Find Web Service information on Human Resources, Activities and CERIF Import/Export. Validate user data and view import or export summary. DATA INTEGRATION

ACCREDITATION

CUSTOM TEMPLATES Map data elements to template elements Create word file includes the mapped data elements that will merge with the user’s profile data TR staff exposes the new template in the DOCUMENTS page of RIV RIV user chooses the template on the DOCUMENTS page, applying any filtering of data via existing filter capability on the DOCUMENTS page RIV system displays a document that includes the static text of the template merged with the user’s profile data according to the mapping defined in steps 1 and 2; Export

Reporting - continued De-duplication: Journal Article and Conference Paper and Proceedings Activities that are matching across Faculty and Groups in an institution are de-duplicated when counted for reports ensuring that i.e. co-authored articles are accurate in reporting as a single instance. User has the ability to export the report to Excel, Word, and PDF formats.
