7 6 Accessing UF Maintenance 4 Access to Item Relationship UF maintenance may be from the standard menu option or from within DMAS item maintenance 4 A new function key is provided to provide quicker access from item maintenance

8 7 Accessing UF Maintenance Item Relationship UF maintenance is accessible directly from the beginning item maintenance screen (in standard DMAS item maintenance) The user may go directly to the I/O Item Relationship maintenance function by pressing function key F21 If an item number is keyed first, the Work with Item Relationships screen will display the desired item at the top of the list NOTE: This screen is displayed if the I/O Item User Friendly Maintenance enhancement IS NOT installed

9 8 Accessing UF Maintenance 4 Initial Work with Item Relationships screen displays a list of existing relationships 4 User options available for working with existing relationships –Change a relationship –Copy a relationship –Delete a relationship –Browse a relationship –Go to item inquiry

10 9 Accessing UF Maintenance 4 Entry capable line for sub-setting the list to include only desired relationships 4 Function keys provided for screen navigation plus additional functions –Refresh –Add new parent –Find all parents for a given component item –Go to DMAS item relationship maintenance

11 10 Accessing UF Maintenance A list of all existing relationships is displayed The user may work with an existing relationship by using the supplied options Return to Item Relationship Summary The list of displayed relationships may be limited by using the selection fields The status of the parent relationship record and the supporting item master record is displayed The effective status of the relationship is displayed based on the effective and expiration dates of the relationship parent

12 11 Finding Relationships 4 Entry capable line for sub-setting the list to include only desired relationships –Parent items starting with specific characters –A specific item relationship type –Parent items whose keyed note fields contain a specific character string –All parent records that have a specific status 4 A function key to find all relationships that contain a specific item as a component

13 12 Finding Relationships Displaying all parents of a specific relationship type To display a list of all relationships of a single type, key the desired relationship type Only relationships of the type keyed will then be displayed If the parent note data is keyed in the parent record, it is displayed in a different color

14 13 Finding Relationships Displaying parents that contain a specific character string in their keyed note data field Key the specific character string that you are looking for All parents whose keyed note data contains the keyed character string are displayed

15 14 Finding Relationships Use function key F21=Find parents of component item to find all relationships that contain a specific item After pressing F21, the Find Parents of Component Item window is displayed Key the item number that you are looking for Then press the Enter key to see the list of relationships

16 15 Finding Relationships Relationships that contain a specific item The item being looked for is displayed in the second header line Return to Item Relationship Summary All relationships that contain the specified item at least one time are listed The type of each relationship is displayed The user may then work with any one of the listed relationships

17 16 Adding a New Relationship 4 When adding a new relationship, a window is displayed requesting the parent name and parent type 4 Parent definition data is then entered (more entry fields available for some relationship types than in DMAS maintenance) 4 A component list screen is then displayed (initially empty of components when adding a new relationship) 4 Components are then entered

18 17 Adding a New Relationship The user identifies the parent to be added The user enters the parent name and relationship type to be added The item master for the parent item number keyed is not required to exist in the item master file in order to establish the relationship

19 18 Adding a New Relationship The relationship parent screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance The user keys parent related data and presses the Enter key twice Depending on which parent type is being entered, some fields of data will appear that do not appear in DMAS item relationship maintenance

20 19 Adding a New Relationship The component list screen is displayed, empty when adding a new relationship When adding a new relationship, the component list screen is initially empty of components The user presses the appropriate function key to designate the type of component to be entered next As components are added to the relationship, they will display on this screen in the order in which they are added

21 20 Adding a New Relationship The component item screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance To enter an item component, the user enters item related data and presses the Enter key twice After pressing the Enter key the second time, the user is returned to the component list screen (P3252)

22 21 Adding a New Relationship The component special charge screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance To enter a special charge component, the user enters special charge related data and presses the Enter key twice After pressing the Enter key the second time, the user is returned to the component list screen (P3252)

23 22 Adding a New Relationship The component comment screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance To enter a comment component, the user enters comment related data and presses the Enter key twice Return to Item Relationship Summary After pressing the Enter key the second time, the user is returned to the component list screen (P3252)

24 23 Maintaining Existing Relationships 4 The user selects which relationship to maintain 4 Options are used to maintain relationship headers or work with components

25 24 Maintaining Existing Relationships The user finds the relationship to be maintained on the Work with Item Relationship screen (L3251) Option 2 is used to maintain parents The item master for the parent item number keyed is not required to exist in the item master file in order to establish the relationship Option W is used to list the components Return to Item Relationship Summary 2=Change header 2=Change header W=Work with components W=Work with components

26 25 Maintaining Existing Relationships Maintaining a parent record is similar to the same function in DMAS item relationship maintenance The user may change the appropriate parent data Return to Work with Item Relationships The user updates the parent record by pressing the Enter key twice After the parent record is updated, the first component record in the relationship is automatically displayed Maintain Components

27 26 Maintaining Existing Relationships The Work with Components option displays the list of components for the specified relationship Option 2 is used to change an existing component Options 6, 7 and 8 are used to insert specific component types prior to the component on which the option is entered Option 4 is used to change an existing component to the “deleted” status Function key F2=Compress may be used to compress blank special charge and comment description lines out of the above screen

28 27 Maintaining Existing Relationships The component item screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance The user may change the item component values After updating a component (pressing the Enter key the second time), the next component in the relationship is automatically displayed

29 28 Maintaining Existing Relationships The component special charge screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance The user may change the special charge component values After updating a component (pressing the Enter key the second time), the next component in the relationship is automatically displayed

30 29 Maintaining Existing Relationships The component comment screen is similar to DMAS item relationship maintenance The user may change the comment component values Return to Work with Item Relationships After updating a component (pressing the Enter key the second time), the next component in the relationship is automatically displayed

31 30 Copying a Relationship 4 A new relationship may be created by copying an existing relationship 4 The relationship being created is not required to be the same relationship type as the relationship being copied

32 31 Copying a Relationship The user may create a new relationship by copying an existing relationship of any type Option 3 is used to create a new relationship by copying an existing relationship Return to Item Relationship Summary When copying a relationship, a window is displayed in which the user identifies the relationship being created

33 32 Suspending a Relationship 4 Item relationships may be suspended by suspending the relationship parent 4 A parent may be re-activated by pressing the same function key again

34 33 Suspending a Relationship An entire relationship may be suspended by merely suspending the relationship parent A relationship parent is suspended by using the F16=Active/Suspend function key Return to Item Relationship Summary A suspended parent my be re-activated by merely pressing the F16=Active/Suspend function key agiab

35 34 Deleting a Relationship 4 Item relationships may be deleted by only deleting the relationship parent 4 A parent may be re-activated by pressing the same function key again

36 35 Deleting a Relationship An entire relationship may be deleted by merely deleting the relationship parent A relationship parent is deleted by using the F20=Delete function key Return to Item Relationship Summary A deleted parent my be re-activated by merely pressing the F20=Delete function key again as long as the relationship has not been purged from the file NOTE: When the DMAS file reorganization is run, relationships that have deleted parents will be purged in their entirety, even though the components may not be deleted.

37 36 Removing a Relationship 4 The contents of an entire item relationship may be physically and immediately removed by using the “remove” option 4 The remove option may be handy if you do not want to wait for file reorganization to remove a deleted relationship 4 Once removed, an item relationship can not be brought back

38 37 Removing a Relationship The user can remove the entire contents of an item relationship with a single code Return to Item Relationship Summary NOTE: This function does an IMMEDIATE REMOVE of all records within the designated item relationship. There is no way to recover them if they are removed erroneously. The user then confirms the “remove” action by pressing the Enter key To physically remove an item relationship header and all of its components immediately, use the R=Remove option
