3. History POSTECH was established by Park Tae-joon, the CEO of Pohang International Steel Corporation (POSCO).

4. The university's founding president was Dr. Hogil Kim, who envisioned a research-oriented institution for Korea modelled after the California Institute of Technology.

5. Initially, the full name of POSTECH was Pohang Institute of Science and Technology. The official opening of the university took place on December 3, 1986.

21. Professor Sangmin Jeon (CE) and Jinmyoung Joo (Post Doc.) have developed the technology that diagnoses cancer by using micro-oscillators made of photo- catalytic silicon and nanoparticle on the inside and magnetic material on the outside.

22. Prof. Jeon stated, “This technology is expected to be more effective and eco- nomical than existing measuring techniques because it shortens diagnostic time by measuring infinitesimal proteins related to cancer. It is why this technique receives spotlight from academia.”
