3 Les Accents French uses accents and spelling marks that do not exist in English. These marks are part of the spelling and cannot be left out. In French there are four accents that may appear on vowels.

These are all girls names, common in different French-speaking countries.

8 To form the cédille, make a 5, without the top on it.

9 Remember: It is important to practice pronunciation.
Accents are part of the spelling of a word. You can’t leave them out.
