3 Edgar the Atheling – He believed he should be king because he was the son of king Edmund who was Edward he confessors brother. When the Viking king Canute invaded Britain, Edward the Atheling was sent to Hungary. He returned hoping to be king. Harold Godwinesson – Harold was Edgar the confessors brother in law. So he believed he should take the throne, but he actually had no blood relation to him. Tostig – Tostig was Harold Godwinessons brother. He was jealous of Harolds more favoured position and wanted the throne himself. Harald Hadrada – He was the king of Norway. A direct descendent of King Cnut, he believed the Vikings should retake the throne, as Edward had no direct heir. William – William was the duke of French Normandy. William believed Edward had promised him the throne. WELCOME TO WHO WANTS TO BE A KING……

6 1066 was an important year because it was called the year of three kings. There was the death of Alfred the great and the ruling of king Cnut. Then after his death William duke of Normandy took the throne. 1066 Important or Not?? IMPORTANT 1066 WAS…
