What is it? n A proven program that has been used in the global Coca-Cola system for almost 20 years. n It incorporates simple, but effective pre- work warm-up exercises as well as employee awareness, education, and ergonomic risk factor identification and improvements by management and employees. n As part of an integrated approach to employee productivity and absence management.

Back Facts n 80 percent of the working population will experience low back pain during their career. n Back related work-place absences are second only to the common cold as a cause of missed work. n Estimates of annual cost to employers is estimated at over $30 billion, including workers comp, lost time, and medical expenses.

Return on Investment n During the one year pilot program, 32% reduction in accident rate and 78% decrease in lost work days was observed. n What are your current rates? n What cost savings would you realize at your facility? n Employees perception: The Company cares about me.

Program logistics n Uses a train the trainers format. Training takes approximately 1/2 day for trainers, and 90 minutes for employees. n Program includes a complete coaches manual, employee brochure, and customized Coca-Cola DVD. n Requires less than five minutes per day by each employee.

Industrial Athletes n Just like the pros, employees must condition their bodies for their specific job. n They must warm up the body before work each day. n They must practice safe techniques during lifting and materials handling.

ERGONOMIC TEAM OBJECTIVES n To maintain a multidisciplinary group which is recognized and supported by management to accomplish the mission of the team. n To develop and implement an ergonomic surveillance system to track claims/costs. n To continue the established training program on general ergonomics and on ergonomic equipment. n To evaluate ergonomic equipment for use throughout The Company, both from a practical and cost standpoint. n To follow the medical management protocol established to treat repetitive strain injuries. n To follow the established protocols to address associate and contractor problems with workstation set up.
