1 What Time Is It?

3 Is it by the Hour Or is it by day, month or year?

5 Time to File Taxes Some of you know that I have been working on taxes. In addition to our personal taxes, I have to file tax returns for Jonathan Mark Homes, and Venus Development. The other day, I was talking to one of our subcontractors, and he asked me how I was doing. I said, “Okay, but I’d be doing a lot better if I had my taxes done.” He said, “Oh, Harley, just file an extension, and don’t worry about it. That’s what I do every year.

6 Filing “Extensions” So as we study our lesson today, just remember, there are those who do things on time, and there are those who file “extensions.” Some people continue to file “extensions,” and they fail to seriously deal with many decisions of life that they should be making.

7 To everything there is a season,
(Eccl 3:1-8 NKJV) To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: {2} A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; {3} A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; {4} A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;

8 To everything there is a season,
(Eccl 3:1-8 NKJV) {5} A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing; {6} A time to gain, And a time to lose; A time to keep, And a time to throw away; {7} A time to tear, And a time to sew; A time to keep silence, And a time to speak; {8} A time to love, And a time to hate; A time of war, And a time of peace.

9 Those times that we cannot control or affect in any meaningful way.
(Eccl 3:2 NKJV) A time to be born, And a time to die;

10 Those times that we cannot control or affect in any meaningful way.
Obviously, we had nothing to say about the time of our birth. We may affect the time of our death to some extent in some cases.  We my take careless chances and hasten our death by an accident. Others live to an advanced age, and then die a natural death which could not be changed such as Carolyn’s mother’s friend, Lois.

11 Some of the times or seasons, that we need to be guided.
(Eccl 3:2 NKJV) A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;

12 We need to recognize the times and seasons, and act appropriately.
 (Prov 20:4 NKJV) The lazy man will not plow because of winter; He will beg during harvest and have nothing.

13 There is an urgency to recognizing what time it is.
(Prov 6:9-11 NKJV) How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? {10} A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep; {11} So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.

14 There is a great Harvest coming for all of us.
Some of us are like my friend who filed for an extension. Paul says some of us have slept too long. Sometimes there may be a good place for “an extension,” but we also need to know that we must also “get back to work.”

15 There is a great Harvest coming for all of us.
 (Rom 13:11-12 NKJV) And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. {12} The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

16 A Time to Weep

17 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn,
ECCLESEASTES. 3:4 A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance;

18 There are times when we weep over sad conditions of other people.
Those who are seriously ill. Those with serious relationship problems.

19 There are times when we weep over sad conditions of other people.
(Rom 12:15-16 KJV) Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. {16} Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

20 Those with relationship problems.
Our relationships with our companions.

21 Those with relationship problems.
Our relationships with our companions. Our relationships with our children.

22 Those with relationship problems.
Our relationships with our companions. Our relationships with our children. Time passes, and we cannot turn back the clock.

24 Those with relationship problems.
Our relationships with our companions. Our relationships with our children. Time passes, and we cannot turn back the clock. Most of life does not come with extensions that we can file Children grow up, people move away, people die.

25 We need to be able to rejoice.
When students do well in school. When young people marry When they have babies. When Missionaries return with stories of success. When someone has done well in their work.

26 We need to continue in prayer for all the seasons of life..
 (Luke 18:1-8 KJV) And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; {2} Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: {3} And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. {4} And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

27 We need to continue in prayer for all the seasons of life..
 (Luke 18:1-8 KJV) {5} Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. {6} And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. {7} And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? {8} I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

28 We need to weep over our own sins and mistakes when those times come.
We used to hear of sins of commission. Sins of omission are equally troubling.

29 We need to weep over our own sins and mistakes when those times come.
Those we have not tried to help with their salvation. Those we should have encouraged, but haven’t.

30 There is a time coming when time will be no more.
 (Rev 10:6 KJV) And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

31 There is coming a time of judgment and time will be no more.
 (Mat 13:30 NKJV) 'Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn."' "

32 We do not know the time of the end.
 (Mark 13:31-35 NKJV) "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. {32} "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. {33} "Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. {34} "It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants,

33 We do not know the time of the end.
 (Mark 13:31-35 NKJV) and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. {35} "Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming; in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning;

34 One time we do know. -- Today is the day of salvation.
 (2 Cor 6:2 NKJV) For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

35

36 Conclusion What time is it? We don’t always know.
 Today is the only day we have.  We need to use it wisely.  We need to make our lives right with God.  We need to make our lives right with each other.

37 The Time to respond is
