6 The Industrial Innovation Agency Identification, selection, lauching and evaluation of large industrial strategic projects Organization: Supervisory board + Directorate Human resources: 30 people Financial resources: 2 billion € (1,7 billion for 2005-2006)

7 Mobilizing Programmes of Industrial Innovation (MPII) MPII: - big projects up to more than 100 M€ - focus on future product possessing high component of technological innovation - existence of a market - medium-term Driving role of one industrialist leader or consortium Cooperative framework with SMEs and laboratories

8 Financial support to MPII Risk sharing: up to half of the sum of R&D expenditures, in form of subsidies or advances to be paid back in the event of succes. Comply with community framework on State aid for R&D - industrial research - pre-competitive developmental activity

9 Energy / Environment: renewable energy, economic building construction, non-polluting facotries … Transport: clean vehicules, safe intelligent automobiles, automation of air traffic control… Health: new therapies (cancer, degenerative diseases), non- invasive surgery, biophotonics… Information Technology: very high speed network, network security, new interfaces, micro-electro-mechanical systems… Strategic potential areas

10 European cooperation European-scale projects. Encourage intergovernmental framework for industrial cooperation around the MPII. Agency should be coordinated with the EUREKA initiative.
