4 Drug Related Death Panels National Drug Related Death Monitoring Group – chaired by the Welsh Assembly Four regional panels – 6 monthly meetings Data collated from post-inquest files and questionnaires sent to service providers. Lessons learned

5 Ambulance and police services Protocol stating that police will not routinely attend overdose incidents. Police will only attend if: The person dies The ambulance staff want back up Emergency services are called to an address where they have experienced problems in the past

6 Naloxone availability Wales is ahead of the game distributing Naloxone to drug users Naloxone could be made available to: Concerned others Housing providers esp. hostels Drug services and Tier 2 providers

7 Embed harm reduction in working practices Preparation work with service users Partnership working with Tier 1 and 2 service providers Peer education Staff to explore overdose risk factors and injecting practices in detail with service users
