7 Agrofood Sector in Veneto Region Outcomes for the Regional Focus Group and main regional assets Regional Focus Groups for the strategic sectors of agro-food have been successfully rallied in Venice on October 5 th, and in Conegliano on October 20th, by initiative of the Veneto Region’s Clusters Office as the unit responsible for ADC implementation in the Lead Partner administration. The next RFG it’s scheduled after the 1° SWG meeting in order to provide a feedback from the transnational level. Four productive districts from Agro-Food and related technology (diary & creamery – sparkling wine – fisheries – packaging) participated to the meeting together with eight dynamic companies and stakeholders. Participants expressed high interest for ADC project aims and actively contributed to the design of further steps to be implemented at transnational level. The topical approach of ADC has been also stressed in the light of the recommendations provided by the European Policy Cluster Group as off the European Cluster Conference held in Brussels on September 29 th. Participants showed their willingness to set a Standing Secretariat for the transnational cooperation that may also represent the starting point for the ADC Help Desk

8 Agrofood Sector in Veneto Region Outcomes for the Regional Focus Group and main regional assets Agro food sectors has showed a certain vocation towards transnational cooperation and the representatives confirmded their interest in joining ADC activities and supporting the methodology proposed Wine sector put on display the excellence of the oldest henology school in Italy (Conegliano) represents a flagship in this field with its Campus and also an important asset of the Wine production value chain The School is part of a big knowledge network compound by regional and national public and private stakeholders The innovative knowledge generated by this high level training center maybe furtherly integrated in the SEE context also for applying to

9 Expectations of Venetian clusters and associated companies (Wine Sector) Knowledge and best practices exchange between Italy and SEE countries Definition of better standards on products traceability for an effective information of the EU citizens and consumers Comparison on quality production qualification Innovation for traceability indicators & fight against counterfeiting Environmental sustainability

10 Expectations of Venetian clusters and associated companies (Dairy Sector) Protection of quality dairy production through polluting factors control Import & export facilitation within and outside the Internal Market and o Matching with new potential partners, also for global promotion and trade

11 Expectations of Venetian clusters and associated companies Agrofood sector in Veneto Region has showed a particular interest towards a)reciprocal exchange and development of common Research and Development activities b)Innovation of process and technology transfer c)Outlining of a common brand

12 Experience of Veneto Region for successful implementation of PEV Veneto Region supported a number of activities and missions for the enhancement of international ties & global promotion of Venetian Clusters (e.g. Brazil, Russia). Moreover, since 2002 Venetian bodies implemented community projects on the subject of transnational networking of clusters (see INDE project www.inde-network.org )www.inde-network.org

13 Suggestions of Veneto Region for successful implementation of PEV Pivotal for the encouragement of the cluster representatives and companies is the visibility of who is coming on from the partner countries and the quick establishment of direct relationship between relevant stakeholders in the sector. Moreover a call for proposal like invitation could be delivered after SWG 2 for the establishment of a pipeline of project ideas (one page form) facilitating partnerships and shaping the bulk of a ADC programme for the sector.
