SOME IDEAS TO KEEP YOU SAFE by Sheridan Junior High School Resource Officer Sam Damon
2
WHO IS A STRANGER????? Anyone you don’t know is a stranger. Even people who look nice are strangers unless your parents say they are safe. Safe strangers are strangers you don’t know but you can trust them to help you. Safe strangers are like Police Officers, Firemen, or parents of friends.
3
WHAT CAN I DO TO STAY SAFE? If approached by a stranger car, don’t go near it. If it feels wrong say NO and run away. Walk to and from school with a friend. Walk in lighted areas. Make sure your parents know where you are and what time to expect you. If you are grabbed by a stranger, YELL, kick, drop, roll and run away. If you feel uncomfortable get away as soon as possible.
4
WHAT SHOULD YOU YELL TO DRAW ATTENTION? STRANGER, STRANGER, STRANGER HELP, HELP, HELP YOUR NOT MY MOTHER OR FATHER FIRE, FIRE, FIRE
5
WHAT WOULD YOU DO??? You are walking through Kendrick Park. A man approaches you and says he is new to Sheridan and he is lost. He then asks you to show him where the YMCA is. You point to where the Y is located but he insists you take him there so he won’t get lost again. What would you do?
6
CONCLUSION REMEMBER YOUR SAFETY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, TOO. IF SOMETHING DOESN’T FEEL RIGHT, IT PROBABLY ISN’T SAFE SO BE ON YOU GUARD. I HOPE THIS INFORMATION WAS HELPFUL TO YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SPEAK TO ME. OFFICER DAMON
