We Beheld His Glory An Intimate Portrait of Jesus

Grace Truth

Three Guiding Questions 1. What do we see about Jesus? 2. Why does this matter? 3. How do we now live?

Jesus, the Messiah John 1:35-51

What Do We See About Jesus, the Messiah? Jesus is the Lamb of God (1:29, 36). Jesus is the Teacher (1:38). Jesus is the Christ (1:41). Jesus is the Nazarene (1:45) Jesus is the Son of God (1:49). Jesus is the King of Israel (1:49). Jesus is the Son of Man (1:51).

Two Statements Statement One (41) He found first his own brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which translated means Christ). Statement Two (51) And He said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."

What do we see about Jesus? Jesus is the true Messiah. “We have found the Messiah” (which translated means Christ). “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

Since Jesus is the true Messiah, then any other ‘messiah’ is false. You shall have no other gods before Me (Exodus 20:3). You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain (Exodus 20:7). Why does this matter?

The incarnation of Christ silences the fraudulent voices of the world whose truth claims are inimical to God. Gary M. Burge

Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 1 John 2:22

Anyone who is not with Me is against Me, and anyone who does not gather with Me scatters. Luke 11:23

How do we now live? Since Jesus is the true Messiah, then we must give Him our supreme allegiance.

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. Galatians 2:20

How do we now live? Jesus invites us to know Him (39, 50, 51). Jesus invites us to follow Him (37, 38, 43). Jesus invites us to remain with Him (39). AND As we give our highest devotion to Jesus Christ, we will profess Him to others! (41, 42, 45, 46)
