4 Microsoft Partner Network
This slide is a brief summary of what MPN is about. It is about connecting partners with Microsoft and partners with partners. It is the main connection tool to Microsoft for our whole community of partners. It gives them access to a whole bunch of resources, technical, marketing and sales. As you know, there are different types of membership within MPN. Today, I am going to focus on the Silver and Gold competencies that represent the highest level of membership. 7% of our partners have this level of membership. Silver means that a partner has trained and acquired the skills to deliver foundational expertise within a solution area, Gold means that a partner has within his organization professionals who have advanced skills within a solution area. These competencies prove a level of commitment and against this level of commitment, Microsoft provide more resources and more support. Today, we are going to focus on the competency level within MPN. Before moving forward, I would like to mention that MPN is also a community tool and it is a dimension of MPN that is going to be reinforced over the next year. To know more about that, I recommend you to attend the MPN Keynote that will be hold tomorrow by Julie Bennani and Anders Spatzek. …et avec les autres partenaires et communautés. © 2013 Microsoft Corporation.
Let’s move forward regarding the MPN competencies. We have two objectives with this competency model. The first one is about customers. The MPN competencies must help our end-customers find, reach out to and select the right partners depending on their needs. Because all the MPN program is first about customers. How do we together, Microsoft partner with Microsoft, serve our customer better? And first, how can we help our end-customer find the right partners based on their needs. If the customer needs to make its infrastructure more agile, more scalable, he will certainly choose another partner than if he needs to implement a CRM solution to support the sales development of the company outside. So, first reason is customer driven. And it is all about providing to our partners the tools to help them win and deliver cutting edge projects to these end customers. Earning a competency, you get access to exclusive resources. And the more our partners are committed, are invested, are trained, the more we are going to provide them with resources. © 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. It shows that our competencies are mainly aligned to the portfolio of solutions Microsoft delivers. We have competencies around our infrastructure solutions, our application solutions, our business productivity solutions, etc. As you can see, most competency are solution driven. But we also have two competencies that address specific customer segments. For partners who want to demonstrate their focus and expertise in solutions dedicated to these segments. The last category of competency represents types of partners. That is why we currently have a Hosting competency. But what does it mean to have the hosting competency? Does it mean that you are a hoster. Perhaps, but do you need a Microsoft badge to prove that you are an hoster. You are delivering services based on many other technologies for most of you. And in which Microsoft technology are you specialized, are you focused? This is a catch all competency that doesn’t really specify where a partners is committed, where he is good at.
