2 When and Where was He Born? He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 24th, 1896. His dad, Edward was from Maryland and his mother, Mary was an Irish immigrant who became wealthy as a grocer. They were both Catholic.

3 Why is he important to us today? He is important to us today because we have a direct source as to what life was like in the 1920's in his point of view. " In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald describes the 1920’s as an era full of greed, moral corruption, and unending social activities." (Writinghood, par. 2).

5 What was his family like? He has one daughter, Francis Scott Fitzgerald. (The Literature Network.) His wife, Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, "was an artist, writer, and popular-culture icon who helped to establish the Roaring Twenties image of liberated womanhood." (Encyclopedia of Alabama, 2007). His relationship with his wife is shown in a lot of his works. (The Literature Network). When he first met his wife, he told her that he was going to be a famous author, but she doubted him, so she refused his proposal, and had several other suitors, but finally accepted when his first book was published. (Encyclopedia of Alabama, 2007).

6 What was his family like? Cont. In the late 1920's their marriage began to suffer after he took a passage from her diary and put it in one of his books (Encyclopedia of Alabama, 2007). In 1930, Zelda had her first of many psychological breakdown due to stress from trying to become a professional ballerina. (Encyclopedia of Alabama, 2007). "The Fitzgeralds parted ways in 1934, although they never divorced. (Their daughter was largely raised by nannies before entering boarding school)". (Encyclopedia of Alabama, 2007).

7 How did he describe the 1920's? Fitzgerald referred to the 20's as 'The Jazz Age'. This decade was also known as wild times. It saw many changes in lifestyle and technology that revolutionized American life forever.

He didn't like his short fiction stories and often he "rejected his short fiction as 'trash'." And said "the stories he wrote were merely to fund the Fitzgerald's lavish lifestyle." F. 10 How did he die? he was an extremely heaving drinker, and he had recurring tuberculosis. He also had a bleeding (esophageal varices), and was very depressed. When he died he was eating a chocolate bar and reading the newspaper as he was going on with his day he suffered from a severe heart attack due to excessive drinking the night before.
