By the end of this session you should be able to: Understand how to navigate through the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool. Correctly use the SDDC 400NG Baseline Rates tables to estimate the cost of a domestic DPS shipments to Alaska. 2 400NG Rating Tool Resources
By the end of this tutorial, you will be able to rate shipments within CONUS and to/from Alaska. Once you rate the shipment, the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool will provide you with the shipment cost by line item. This information will help verify invoice amounts prior to invoice approval. You must have the current version of the following TWO items for completing this tutorial: SDDC 400NG Rating Tool SDDC 400NG Baseline Rates If you do not have these Items you may find them at: To access the documents, copy the URL into your address bar within a browser. Finally, you will review your entries into the Rating Tool and the Computation Totals This tutorial illustrates each phase of the shipment costing process. The tutorial illustrates where to find the required information, how to enter the required information, and how to review the required information

4 Example Shipment Information
This tutorial will use an example shipment from Birmingham, AL to Fairbanks, AK via water. Example Shipment Information 10,000 lbs shipment CONUS Linehaul Mileage: 2,513 Origin Zip 3: 352 (Birmingham, AL) Destination Zip 3: 997 (Fairbanks, AK) Days of SIT: 4 Intra-AK Mileage: 20 miles Linehaul Discount: 65.00% SIT Discount: % Alaska Route: By Water from Tacoma to Fairbanks Alaska Destination: Fairbanks Requested Pickup Date: June 1, 2012 (Peak Season) This tutorial estimates the cost of an example shipment using the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool. Required information includes: Weight of the shipment Origin Zip 3 Destination Zip 3 Number of Days in SIT Intra-AK Mileage * (DTOD Miles when Origin and Destination Zip 3 are the same) Linehaul Discount SIT Discount Alaska Route * (Note – If the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool drop down list is blank, scroll up to see selections) Alaska Destination * (Note – If the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool drop down list is blank, scroll up to see selections) Requested Pickup Date (Determines whether the shipment is a Peak or Non-Peak season shipment (This is the originally requested and accepted Pickup Date at the time the shipment is offered and accepted by the TSP)) *this field is not required for non-Alaska shipments When using the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool, the eleven required fields are needed to cost this shipment throughout the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool.

Step 1.1 FIND WEIGHT DPS: Shipment Management XXXX Find the shipment Weight. Log in to DPS and click the ‘Shipment Management Tab’ and search by the shipment’s GBL. Click on your shipment. On the Shipment Information screen, pictured above, you can find the Weight (10,000). Note: You can also find the shipment weight on the invoice. 10,000

If you do not have access to the invoicing and approvals tab, you can find the Linehaul Discount in Block 31 of the GBL. Find the Linehaul Discount (65%). After searching by GBL, click the “view” hyperlink to access the shipment information. DPS will produce the page shown above. Find the Linehaul Discount (65%), outlined above in red. *Also can be found on certified GBL*

Step 5.1 FIND SIT DISCOUNT DPS: Invoicing / Approvals: Shipment Services and Charges Refer to the Invoicing/Approvals tab within DPS. Find the SIT Discount (45%). After searching by GBL, click the “view” hyperlink to access the shipment information. DPS will produce the page shown above. Find the SIT Discount (45%), outlined above in red. PPSOs can find the SIT Discount within DPS Analytics.

65% 45% If your shipment went to/from Alaska, before continuing in the General Information Section, refer to the “Further Information Required” section within the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool. Here you must enter your Alaska related information. Note: If your shipment does not have Alaska as an origin or destination you will skip this section.

If your shipment does not have Alaska as an origin or destination, you will not complete the above information. - Enter the Alaska shipment information in the “Further Information Required” table to the right. - Select the correct route from the Enter AK Route> dropdown (By Water From Tacoma to Fairbanks). - Select the correct destination from the Enter AK Destination dropdown (Fairbanks). (This will be your Base Point City (BPC)). - Select the correct DTOD miles from the Enter AK DTOD Miles> dropdown (20). (This mileage is from the BPC (Fairbanks in this case) to Block 18) (for our example, we will say that mileage is 20 miles). Note: To obtain DTOD miles go to and login. If you do not have a login, you may request access to DTOD. Next we will find the “Base Linehaul Charge”. 65% 45% For this step, you must find the Lower 48 Mileage for the Linehaul Charge calculation. Refer to the shipment information section within the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool. The second row contains the Lower 48 Mileage that you will need for the Linehaul Charge (2,513 Miles).

22 Step 7.4 FIND BASE LINEHAUL CHARGE
400NG-2012 Baseline Tab: Linehaul You will now begin working within the SDDC 400NG Baseline Rates Tables. Refer to the ‘Linehaul' tab. Due to the originally requested pickup date being in the “Peak Season” (15 May – 30 Sep) use the ‘Linehaul – Peak’ table. First, find the shipment mileage on the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool (Our mileage is 2,513) (as identified in Step 7.1 above). Using this mileage, Find the Base Linehaul Charge in the SDDC 400NG Baseline Rates ‘Linehaul’ Tab. Identify the correct mileage range. Identify the correct shipment weight range. The intersection point of the weight column and mileage row indicates the amount for the Base Linehaul Charge ($20,897.00). Since our example shipment takes place in peak season (15 May – 31 August), refer to the ‘Linehaul – Peak’ table within the Linehaul tab. When costing a shipment within non-peak season, scroll to the non-peak season version of the table. Peak: 15 May – 30 September Nonpeak: 1 October – 14 May Requirements Shipment Weight  10,000lbs Mileage 2513 miles

The intersection point of the weight column and mileage row indicates the amount for the Base Intra-AK Charge ($3,823.00). Since our example shipment takes place in peak season (15 May – 31 August), refer to the ‘Intra AK – Peak’ table within the Linehaul tab. When costing a shipment within non-peak season, scroll to the non-peak season version of the table. Identify the correct Base Point City (BPC) (our example is Fairbanks) and the correct shipment weight range. The intersection point of the weight column and BPC row indicates the amount for the Base AK Water Charge ($21,632.00). Since our example shipment takes place in peak season (15 May – 31 August), refer to the ‘Intra AK – Peak’ table within the ‘Linehaul’ tab. When costing a shipment within non-peak season, scroll to the non-peak season version of the table. For this example, we will use the fuel surcharge percentage for The fuel surcharge percentage for June 2012 had not been released at the time this tutorial was written. Find the appropriate date range for the shipment within the SDDC’s Fuel Adjustment tables. Find the LHS Fuel Surcharge Percentage (15%) for the $2.50 Baseline. The 400NG Rating Tool, applies fuel surcharge using a $2.50 Baseline. Every ten cents (or portion thereof) that the fuel price is above the baseline ($2.50) corresponds to a single percentage of LHS Fuel Surcharge Percentage. (Note- The date of our sample shipments movement does not have a Fuel price as of creation time so we selected the generic date of 6 Jun 11 just to identify what you will see).

Before you begin the next step, you will need to identify the Origin Service Area Number. You can find it within the top right corner of the SDDC 400NG Rating Tool. The Origin Service Area Number for Birmingham, AL is “4”. Write down or remember the Origin Service Area Number, you will need it as this tutorial continues.

The intersection point of the charge column and Service Area row indicates the amount for the Origin LH Factor Charge ($1.10). Requirements CWT Service Area Number

The 400NG Rating Tool, applies fuel surcharge using a $2.50 Baseline. Every ten cents (or portion thereof) that the fuel price is above the baseline ($2.50) corresponds to a single percentage of LHS Fuel Surcharge Percentage. (Note- The date of our sample shipments movement does not have a Fuel price as of creation time so we selected the generic date of 6 Jun 11 just to identify what you will see).
