2 What is the Parent Assistant Module? A user-friendly web application to help parents track their children’s progress in school

3 Allows for easy communication between parents and teachers. Allows parents to easily request updates to their child’s personal information and family contacts. Parent Assistant Module

5 Projected Timeline for PAM Deployment Mid-October—Draughn High School and feeder schools (Heritage Middle School, Drexel, Rutherford College, and Valdese) Late-October/November—Patton High School and feeder schools (Liberty Middle, Salem, Mull, Forest Hill), North Liberty, Burke Middle College and Hallyburton Academy November—East Burke High School and feeder schools (East Burke Middle, George Hildebrand, Hildebran, Icard, Ray Childers) Late November—Freedom High School and feeder schools (Table Rock Middle, Walter Johnson Middle, Chesterfield, Glen Alpine, Mountain Crest, Oak Hill, WA Young)

6 Custodial Parents: How do you get access? Attend the Parent Training at your child’s school. Present proper photo identification. NC Driver License DMV Picture ID Credit Union Picture ID Passport Meet with appropriate personnel (data manager) at your child’s school to obtain your username and password.

You will have a separate username and password for each child. Non-Custodial Parents: How do you get access?

8 Go to https://pam-pilot.ncwise.org/dc3https://pam-pilot.ncwise.org/dc3 Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields. (IMPORTANT: Usernames and Passwords are case sensitive.) Use the language button to select the language in which you would like your PAM to display. Click the LOGIN button at the bottom. Logging In to PAM

10 SPECIAL NOTE: You may receive a Certificate Error when you first login to PAM. You should choose “CONTINUE TO THIS WEBSITE” as this is a secure site. OR you may accept the certificate. This is an error that will be corrected. Logging In to PAM

11 Accessing Your Students The first screen that appears after logging into the PAM is the CURRENT PROGRESS screen. The Current Progress screen is considered the default page for the Parent Assistant program. If you get a Pop-up Blocker message, please allow Pop-ups from this site.

13 If you have more than one student attending a Burke County School, you can click on the dropdown arrow next to the student’s name to view your other child’s information. Select a student from the dropdown list and click the “Display” button. This function is available on ALL screens. Accessing Your Students

15 Navigating Parent Assistant To navigate PAM, move your mouse over the categories listed below General Info, Current Activity, Academic Progress, Messages, or Miscellaneous. Each of these provides sub- categories to choose from. To view the sub- category, click on the title.

16 Accessible Menus General Info: Change password, Demographics and Emergency Contacts Current Activity: Attendance Academic Progress: Current Progress, Assignments, Credits, Diploma, and Marks/Grades Messages: Messages from school personnel (currently not operational) Miscellaneous: Non-School Days and lunch menus

17 General Info Menu Four sub-categories under the General Info menu: Change Password Demographics Emergency Contacts Transportation (not used by most schools currently)

18 Changing Your Password To change your password, choose General Info  Change Password Key your Current Password, then your New password twice. Click OK. General Info Menu

19 Demographics To view student demographics, choose General Info  Demographics A custodial parent may request changes to demographic data in any of the fields on the Demographic screen. It is then submitted to the NC WISE Data manager at the school for approval. General Info Menu

21 Emergency Contacts To view emergency contacts, choose General Info  Emergency Contacts. In order to view details on each emergency contact, click the “Details” button next to the contact’s name. A custodial parent may request a change to the demographic data in any of the fields on the Emergency contacts screen. This is then submitted to the NC WISE Data Manager for approval. 23 Viewing Your Child’s Schedule To view your child’s schedule, click on the “Student Schedule” button located at the top right of the screen next to the Log Off button.

24 Current Activity Menu The Current Activity menu allows you to navigate to your student’s attendance. The attendance screen for elementary/ middle schools is different from high schools. Elementary/middle schools use daily attendance; high schools use period attendance.

27 Academic Progress Menu Five sub-categories can be found under the Academic Progress menu: Assignments Credits Earned to Date Current Progress (the default page when you enter PAM) Marks/Grades Standard Tests (not currently operational)

28 To view assignments, choose Academic Progress  Assignments. This screen will provide a list of assignments that your student has been assigned by his/her teachers. Academic Progress Menu Assignments

30 To view Credits Earned to Date, choose Academic Progress  Credits Earned to Date This screen provides a list of courses taken, credits received, and marks earned for previous school years. Academic Progress Menu Credits Earned to Date

32 To view Marks/Grades, please choose Academic Progress  Marks/Grades. This screen will provide you with a report card view of your student’s marks/grades for the current school year. Grades are not available in grades K-2 in BCPS. Academic Progress Menu Marks/Grades

34 Academic Progress Menu Standard Tests To view Standard Tests, please choose Academic Progress  Standard Tests. This screen will provide you with a listing of all standardized tests taken by your student.

35 Miscellaneous Menu Currently three sub-categories can be found under the Miscellaneous menu: Lunch Menus Non-School Days Student Schedules (may also access from the Student Schedule button on the top right-hand side of your screen)

36 To view a list of the dates that school will NOT be in session for the current year, please select Miscellaneous  Non-School Days. Miscellaneous Menu Non-School Days
