7 7 DONT Dont use the following language: Unnecessary adjectives, adverbs, determiners and modifiers (eg. very, more and more, a lot of, fairly, none, nothing, good, always, all, some, many, a few, everyone, everywhere, undoubtedly, really [ie. be as specific as possible!]) etc, …, and so on, and so forth, and the like

8 8 DONT moreover, besides, furthermore, whats more as you know, everybody agrees, in real life, in reality nowadays bored, boring, shy, lazy (ie. dont use words that have subjective meanings)

9 9 DONT the fact that (unless it really is a fact!), it can be said, it is surely true, it is true that, it is a fact that (unless it really is a fact!), it is said that, it can be easily seen that, it is certain that

10 10 DONT Dont use clichés. Use plain language instead Dont use idioms, the vernacular, informal language (eg. a lot of) Dont use contractions (eg. dont, theyd). (Do write the contracted phrase in full eg. do not, they had)

11 11 DONT Dont overgeneralise Dont start sentences with and, but, so, because (ie. don t start sentences with conjunctions )

12 12 DONT Dont forget to check everything you have written before you submit it Dont forget to check one more time!!! Dont forget to check this checklist to make sure you have done everything as best you can
