10 Coca-Cola – Variable Print and Customisation Coca-Cola’s Summer 2011-2012 “Share a Coke” campaign involved the printing of people’s names on 390mL, 450mL and 600mL Coca- Cola bottles. Le Mac’s Dotrix was an integral part in the execution of ‘Share a Coke’.

11 Coca-Cola – Variable Print and Customisation The main requirement of the ‘Share a Coke’ project was to be able to vary the names printed consecutively on the labels. The customer required 150 names to be printed in a certain sequence. To do this, Le Mac utilised variable data insertion software, a product called ‘Vibe’. This software enables large amounts of variable date to be dropped into digital print files in a predetermined sequence. In the case of the Coca-Cola promotion, the variable data was the 150 names, but the software has the capability to insert tens of thousands of variable data.  Print direction 

12 Coca-Cola – Variable Print and Customisation Without Le Mac and Agfa’s digital printing process, each roll of labels would have only one name and therefore large batches of Coca-Cola would be shipped to stores with just one name on all of them. The Le Mac Dotrix solution made it possible for each consecutive bottle to have a different name at the point of labelling and therefore each bottle packed into a shipper to have a different name. Variable printing on the Le Mac Dotrix led to each bottle within a group of 150 bottles on the shelf to bear a unique name.
