2 Logistics Target Audience: any certified teacher (K-12) interested in integrating environmental education across the curriculum Format: Face to Face or Partial Online Purpose: to develop teachers’ knowledge and skill in the design, delivery, programming and assessment of an integrated environmental education curriculum as discussed in Acting Today, Shaping Tomorrow: A Policy Framework for Environmental Education in Ontario Schools (2009)

3 Emphasis Guiding teachers in developing an integrated environmental education program that is about the environment, for the environment and in the environment Exploring the science of and the global issues related to food, water, energy, air, land, and biodiversity through the lens of education for sustainable development 3

4 Outcomes Candidates will gain the knowledge, skills and perspectives to help their students to understand that they are connected to each other and to the world around them, think critically about complex and diverse environmental issues and become active global citizens. 4

6 Pedagogy Part I: Programming  Resources and instructional strategies for teaching and learning environmental science  Frameworks for analysing environmental issues 6

8 Pedagogy Part III (Specialist): Leadership and Change  Programming school and system wide learning opportunities with a focus on environmental education  Leadership in a professional learning community focused on infusing environmental education into the curriculum 8

9 Highlights Summer Destination AQ Learning the background science alongside environmental education Local field trips Tailor-made Programming:  York will offer Face to Face or Partial Online to any family of schools or school Board with a minimum of 15 candidates 9
