From 29 th April 2012, new requirements for notification and record keeping will come into force. Requirements of above will come into force in line with type- approval From October 2012 it becomes mandatory for a large trailer subject to annual test to be notified to VOSA before it is used on the public road. VOSA will check the vehicle is approved before issuing clearance to use the trailer.

From October 2012, it becomes mandatory for the person retailing the trailer to the public to keep records of every trailer sold for a period of 10 years.
