3 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Increase their awareness of existing community needs

4 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Increase their awareness of their personality, learning, and leadership styles and how they might impact the effectiveness of a group or team

5 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Have a broader involvement in community service to address local as well as national and global needs

6 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Increase their understanding of and practice applying the essential skills involved in effective, meaningful philanthropic work

7 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Increase their understanding of essential skills of effective leadership

8 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Increase their understanding of problem solving and decision making

9 Through this course students have the opportunity to: Develop a life-long commitment to service and philanthropy as part of civic responsibility.

11 2008 Quarter 2 Class focused on Domestic Violence Service Project included a Benefit Concert Give

14 Service Project Benefit Concert for SAFE In Hunterdon

16 2008 Quarter 3 Class focused on Homelessness Service Project included the first IHN Dream Dinner held at HCRHS which continues annually

17 2008 Quarter 4 Class focused on Seniors Raised about $1,000 to purchase games and activities Service Project included spending time with seniors at Briteside Briteside I - Flemington

18 2008 - Quarter 4 (former Briteside II – Lebanon)

20 2009 – Quarter 3 Class focused on Children Raised about $1,000 to purchase games and activities Service Project included spending time with kids at the Youth Center

23 2009 – Quarter 4 America’s Grow-A-Row Class focused on Hunger Service Project included planting vegetables

24 2009 – Quarter 4 America’s Grow-A-Row

25 2010 Quarter 2 Class focused on people with disabilities

26 2010 Quarter 2 Raised funds through a “sticky fly” contest

27 2010 - Quarter 2 Service Project included Dinner and a Movie – advocating for people with disabilities and enjoying dinner and activities with Arc clients and spending time with clients at their Point Breeze Day Center

29 2010 - Quarter 2 outcomes: Students were able to grasp a perspective between institutional living and community integration for people with disabilities. multiple students expressed how visiting Point Breeze put a "face" to the issue of people with disabilities Personal interaction between students and clients at Point Breeze left lasting impressions on both parties. multiple students were heartened by the support of clients, their families, other students and Arc staff for their support of the L&P efforts

30 2 students want to help with Arc's dinner fundraiser 2 students expressed an interest in playing basket ball with a client 2 students requested copies of photographs taken during their visit at Point Breeze. 1 student expressed interest in a summer internship with UW Parents’ comment: the work of the class “renews our faith in humanity”. 2010 - Quarter 2 outcomes:

32 2010 Quarter 3 Raised about $ 900 to support Fisherman’s Mark’s food pantry

33 2010 Quarter 3 Service Project included spending time at Fisherman’s Mark

34 2011 Quarter 2 Class focused on Homelessness Raised over $1,800 through a “Dance your Class Off” event to support IHN

35 2011 Quarter 3 Class focused on Domestic Violence Raised $565 through a “Kiss the Pig” activity

37 2011 Quarter 1 Class focused on Hunger Raised about $125 to support the Flemington Food Pantry increasing awareness at a football game Learned to write grants in support of issue

38 2012 Quarter 2 Class focused on Homelessness and Domestic Violence Raised about $500 to support IHN and SAFE In Hunterdon Presented grant request to UWHC Board of Trustees for an additional $500 in agency support
