2 National Curry Week 2009 WE NEED YOUR HELP This year, for the first time we are calling on the great British curry fan to become part of the great British curry family by joining The Curry Tree (info@thecurrytree.com). In past National Curry Weeks, we have raised funds for a variety of charities based arounf hunger and malnutrition. For 2009 we have created The Curry Tree Charitable Fund over seen by some of the top people in the industry to distribute funds raised each year, to the most needy causes. In 2008 a whole group of disasters hit parts of the world including earthquake in China ; floods in Malaysia ; earthquake in Indonesia ; earthquake in Pakistan ; floods in Sri Lanka ; floods in Nepal ; volcano in Chile and floods in Bangladesh. Through The Curry Tree we will be able to react to natural disasters as well as provide ongoing support for the hungry, poor and malnourished around the world. There are 23 million people eating out regularly each year in Britain. If we all pledge just £1 a year just think what we could achieve and it is all so very easy.

3 National Curry Week 2009 *According to FAO figures the number of malnourished people worldwide increased by 75 million in 2007 to an estimated total of 925 million. *The Indian restaurant sector provides around 170 million meals a year, sufficient for nearly 3 meals per person of the UK population. *One child in the world dies every 5 seconds from hunger related causes. *23 million people in Britain eat out regularly ( more than once each year). You can help by taking the pound pledge and becoming a ‘Curry3’. All you need to do is email your pledge (name, town, email address) to donate just £1 a year to info@thecurrytree.com and it will be called upon during National Curry Week in November each year, and then undertake to pass this message on to at least 3 friends or contacts for them to consider joining us as well.info@thecurrytree.com JOIN THE CURRY FAMILY NOW Funds raised will be allocated to deserving causes around poverty, disaster and malnutrition each year by the trustees which include some of the top people in the Indian restaurant sector.
