Many levels of authorities: Governmental/federal/national level. Regional level Municipal level. Stages of development: Out of phase Different degree of coverage Different degree of maturity and competence ROSATTE and the challenges ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

Optimal Use of Road, Traffic and Travel Data 1. EU-wide real time travel information (public and private roles) 2. Collection and provision of road data 3. Accurate public data for digital maps 4. Free minimum information service 5. Promotion of multi-modal journey planners Area 1 Drivers ITS Action Plan and ITS Directive ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

Drivers This Directive aims to create a European wide Spatial Data Infrastructure which enables/includes: Data specifications for 34 data types Road model/geometry and some road properties The INSPIRE Directive ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

Agenda 1.ROSATTE and the challenges 2.The drivers 3.Deployment map and The ROSATTE Forum 4.Summing up ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

Deployment roadmap Main goals are to provide: a stepwise development path of the ROSATTE framework a common understanding of the steps forward, the possibility to follow-up ROSATTE implementation in time Used as a communication tool ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

A fast lane roadmap for the: Early adopters Work with early versions of standards and definitions A slower pace roadmap for ROSATTE new-comers: For organisations which will implement ROSATTE at a later stage Early adopters and milestones for the next 10 years. Creation of a self-contained organisation. Suggested: Governance structure and Terms of reference Approved by: Active members of the organisation Running by: Mid-2011 The ROSATTE Forum ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

Why a forum? Many great EU funded projects has had a slow uptake and limited impact because of lack of resources to: Implement and maintain Disseminate and educate Align with the current maturity situations among the receiving stakeholders The ROSATTE Forum ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

The results from the surveys shows good intention… We have the law in place – INSPIRE and ITS Directive Standards will eventually be developed In spite of this: Implementation might still not be harmonised and cross- border compliant It is hard to add new safety or road data/attributes for other purposes (climate, mobility, freight, inter-modality) on an European level All (kinds of) service providers should be accommodated There is not enough funding to do it all in parallel Summing up ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010

It is easy to see that there is still a lot to do… Its hard to see how the results of ROSATTE can take hold without a systematic effort along these lines: Lets keep the larger ROSATTE group of experts together Lets set up a service oriented partnership organisation: Give advise to newcomers Maintain and develop the specifications and guidelines Develop means that help all parties to comply with the ROSATTE and ITS Directive requirements Help standardise road and traffic data Summing up ROSATTE webinar, 16 Dec 2010
