Abstract : Proper attendance management is crucial for the academic institutions to disseminate and ensure quality education to every student. This project presents a model of an automated attendance system to alleviate the manual effort of recording data eliminating The chances of fraudulency. The model focuses on how face recognition incorporated with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) detect the authorized students and counts as they get in and out from the classroom. Smart Attendance System keeps the authentic record of every registered student and eradicates greatly the traditional tedious task. More ever, this smart system keeps the data of every student registered for a particular course in the attendance log and provides necessary information according to the need. By recognizing the face of the individual and verified by RFID simultaneously in our project, the limitations in the existing manual attendance system are mostly eliminated. 3

Literature Survey (Cont..,): 6 SL.NODESCRIPTION 09Srivastav Nandita (2006) The ―Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is an automatic identification system. RFID uses RF to identify ―tagged items. This data is then collected and transmitted to a host system using an RF Reader. The data transmitted by the tag may provide identification or location information, or specifics about the product tagged, such as price, colour, date of purchase; etc. 10"An Automatic Attendance System using Face Recognition" by A. S. Bhosale, S. R. Sawant, and A. S. Jadhav. This paper presents a smart attendance system that uses both face recognition and RFID technology to authenticate the identity of individuals. Aditya and M. R. S. S. S. Siriwardhana. This paper proposes a smart attendance system that combines RFID and face recognition technologies to track attendance of students in an educational setting. The system is designed to improve the accuracy and efficiency of attendance tracking. 12"Smart Attendance System using RFID and Face Recognition" by A. Shamaa and M. A. El-Dosuky. This paper presents a smart attendance system that combines RFID and face recognition technologies to authenticate the identity of individuals and track attendance in real-time. The proposed system is designed to be used in various organizations to improve the efficiency of attendance tracking.
7
Problem Statement: The current method that institutions uses is the faculty passes an attendance sheet or make roll calls and mark the attendance of the students. It disturbs the discipline of the class. It should be frequently updated manually in the excel sheet. It is quite hectic and time-consuming process. 7
8
Existing System: RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) Based recognition system: The student needs to carry a RFID Card with them. The system is capable of to connect to RS232 and record the attendance to the saved data base There are possibilities for the fraudulent access may occur. Some are students may make use of other students ID to ensure their presence when the particular student is absent. 8 Fig: RFID based attendance system
9
Cont.. Fingerprint Based recognition system: Portable fingerprint device need to be configured with the students fingerprint earlier. During the lecture hours or before, the student needs to record the fingerprint on the configured device to ensure their attendance for the day. 9 Fig: Fingerprint Based recognition system.
10
Proposed System: To capture the face of each student and simultaneously the RFID tag is readed and stored it in the database for their attendance. All the feature of the students' face needs to be detected. There is no need for the teacher to manually take attendance in the class The attendance database is updated for the respective student automatically. 10
11
Objective : Detection of unique face image. Detection of faces amongst other face characters as beard, spectacles etc. Automated update in the attendance sheet without human intervention. Reduce time loss as time is a very valuable resource. Reduction of flaws done by the students, Employees etc.. 11
12
Introduction : 12 Attendance is high important for both the school teacher and pupil of an educational association. So, it's veritably important to keep record of the attendance. The problem arises when we suppose about the traditional process of taking attendance in class room. Calling name or roll number of the pupil for attendance isn't only a problem of time consumption but also it needs energy. So, an automatic attendance system can break all above problems.

Hardware Tools: Raspberry Pi is a series of small single-board computers. It is used in many areas, such as for monitoring because of its low cost, modularity, and open design. It consists of HDMI and USB standards and Raspberry Pi OS. It consists of 1.5 GHz quad-core 64 bit processor. It needs at least a 5-volt, 3-amp power supply. 13 Fig: Raspberry PI 4 Raspberry PI 4 :

Cont.. The Arduino-Nano is microcontroller which is shown in Figure based board on the Atmega328p. The board are equipped with set of digital and analog input/output pins that may be interfaced with various expansion boards or breadboard and other circuits. The boards feature serial communications interfaces including USB (universal serial bus) on some models which are also used for loading programs from PCs. 14 Arduino-Nano : Fig: Arduino Nano
15
Cont.. The Raspberry Pi Camera Board is a custom designed add-on module for Raspberry Pi hardware. It attaches to Raspberry Pi hardware through a custom CSI interface. The sensor has 5 megapixel native resolution in still capture mode. In video mode it supports capture resolutions up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. 15 PI Camera : Fig: PI Camera

Typically consist of a series of organic thin films sandwiched between two thin- film conductive electrodes. OLEDs are emissive displays that do not require a backlight and so are thinner and more efficient than LCD displays. 16 OLED Display : Fig: OLED Display
17
Cont.. An RFID or radio frequency identification system consists of two main components, a tag attached to the object to be identified, and a reader that reads the tag. It consists of a microchip that stores and processes information. The RC522 RFID reader module is designed to create a 13.56MHz electromagnetic field and communicate with RFID tags. 17 RFID module kit : Fig: RFID module kit

19
Software Tools : 19 Raspberry pi OS: Raspberry Pi OS has a desktop environment. It looks like many common desktops, such as macOS and Microsoft Windows. We should use SD card (minimum 8 GB recomm- ended) to store the OS.
20
Cont.. OpenCV Python: OpenCV is a huge open-source library for computer vision, machine learning, and image processing. OpenCV supports a wide variety of programming languages like Python, C++, Java, etc. It can process images and videos to identify objects, faces, or even the handwriting of a human. It is integrated with various libraries, such as Numpy. 20
21
Cont.. Arduino IDE: Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) is the software for Arduino. It is a text editor like a notepad with different features. It is used for writing code, compiling the code to check if any errors are there and uploading the code to the Arduino. It is a cross-platform software which is available for every Operating System like Windows, Linux, macOS. 21
22
Working principle: 22 Fig: Circuit Diagram Initially, power both the Arduinos and Raspberry Pi to run the face script of Python. Then bring your face in front of the camera and after its recognition. Simultaneously, put the RFID card on the RFID module. After a successful reading of the card, the name and attendance confirmation will be shown in the OLED display. At the same time, the 2nd Arduino will save the attendance time along with the RFID name and the person’s face. To see the whole database of smart attendance system, open the text file of attendance in the SD card.
23
Flow chart: 23 Fig: Flow chart Step1: Initially, the face of the student is captured using the face recognition technology and checked with the pre-recorded data. Step2: Simultaneously, the RFID reader is used to read RFID card and checked with the pre-recorded data. Step3: If the face and RFID card of that student is matched with the pre-recorded data then, attendance is provided for that student. Step4: If the face and RFID card of that student is not matched with the pre-recorded data then, attendance is not provided for that student. Step5: Entire data is stored in the data base.
