2 Meaning of transport  Movement of people or goods from one place to another is called transport. Example: Import & Export, people travelling form one place to another etc.

3 Means of transport  Road ways  Railways  Water ways  Airways

4 Roadways  Roadway is one of the means of transport where transportation is mainly done on the roads. Transport on roads can be roughly grouped into two transportation of goods and transportation of people. Roadway gives door to door services. Example: Going to school, offices etc. Import and export of goods through roads or highways.

5 Railways  Rail transport is also known as train transport. It is a means of transport which commute people and goods from one place to another. It is one of the most important, commonly used and very cost effective modes of transport.

6 Water ways transport  It is also one of the means of transport where transportation of people or goods are done on the surface of the water or tunnel or pipeline.

7 Airways transport It is the last means of transport where the movement of passengers and cargo are done by aircraft such as airplanes and helicopters. Air transportation has become the primary means of common- carrier traveling.

8 Importance of transportation  It enables Commerce (Trading of goods and commodities).  It gives communication that establish civilization.  Easy movement 0f people from one location to another.  It SAVE TIME for commuting.
