1 SELF-RESPECT What is it?
The knowledge of one's own worth, valuing one's self; pride It embraces more than just what your parents and teachers expect of you When we have respect, we avoid degrading, insulting or injuring, and we treat every one and every thing with consideration

2 SELF-RESPECT show respect for views with which you disagree and speak in a non-threatening way To create open, trusting relationships with fellow-members of the community Respect invites respect… Disrespect invites disrespect Mutual respect allows a person to respect others and to practise self-respect

Do you just do the bare minimum for what is asked of you or do you put in your best effort because you want to be the best that you can be? “Am I worth the effort?” or “I want to respect myself and I want others to respect me. I am worth the respect!”

“I can’t do this!” or “I can learn to do this!” Whatever I believe in, it becomes true because I expect it to be true and so behave in a way that will make it happen.

Do you capitalise your own name? Eg. John vs john By capitalising my own name, it shows I respect myself and that I am important.

“This is too difficult!” or “This is difficult but it will be beneficial for me.” “Am I worth the effort to do this?”

You do things to hurt yourself or do you consciously avoid things known to damage a person’s body or mind. “Do I care about what happens to me or my mind?”

Most of the time, you would rather have fun than growth or vice versa. “Do I care only about having fun or in being a person of high quality?”

You spend most of your free time watching TV/videos or doing things that will help you in your overall growth as an individual? “I just want to be entertained.” or “My future is important to me and I want to be well-prepared for the rest of my life and be the best that I can be.”
