HAPPY NEW YEAR 2020

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 Loved ones, hopefully over the years of your life you have learned that there is little you can do to make yourself truly happy.

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 Maybe you have also learned that most of the time you don’t need half of what you think you need.

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 Yet, we all want to be happy. So what is the secret?

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 The Bible teaches that the secret to happiness is to learn to trust and depend on God to make you happy.

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 You must TRUST GOD to “supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 God is the solution for all your New Year's resolutions! God wants to do a new thing in you! You can be new!

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 When you become new then this year is for you! This will be the Best Year Ever!

HOW TO BE HAPPY IN 2020 We are going to ring out the old and bring in the NEW! The church that is biblically alive is worth the drive!

TRUE HAPPINESS “…Happy is that people, whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 144:15). This is the SECRET to Happiness – knowing and trusting God as your Lord.

TRUE HAPPINESS “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them” (Psalm 146:5).

TRUE HAPPINESS The wise King Solomon had the ability and riches to search for happiness in ways none of us can ever equal.

TRUE HAPPINESS “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding” (Proverbs 3:13).

TRUE HAPPINESS “He who has mercy on the poor, happy is he” (Proverbs 14:21). “Whoever trusts in the LORD, happy is he” (Proverbs 16:20).

TRUE HAPPINESS Echoing our Lord, the apostle Peter wrote, “If you suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are you” (1 Peter 3:14; Matthew 5:10-12).

TRUE HAPPINESS The Holy Spirit also spoke through the apostle Paul, saying, “Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves” (Romans 14:22).

ACROSTIC An acrostic can be a word or a phase where the first letter in each word is taken to teach a lesson.

ACROSTIC This morning, with the Lord’s help, we will use the words, “HAPPY” “NEW” “YEAR”, as an acrostic for this brief sermon.

HAPPY - HOLD FAST Prove all things; hold fast that which is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21). The word of God will throughly furnish us for all good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

HAPPY - HOLD FAST Hold fast the confession of our faith without wavering; for God is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). Even when we pray, let’s always ask in faith, nothing wavering (James 1:6).

HAPPY - HOLD FAST Like the church of Christ meeting in Sardis, we are to hold fast the things we’ve heard and received, and repent (Revelation 3:3).

HAPPY - HOLD FAST Since Jesus is a son over us, His house, we are to hold fast the hope He give us firm unto the end (Heb. 3:6).

HAPPY - HOLD FAST “Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

HAPPY – ASSEMBLING TOGETHER
Every first day of the week (Acts 20:7). If possible, we should never forsake the assembling of ourselves together (Hebrews 10:25).

HAPPY – ASSEMBLE TOGETHER
Resolve now to continue steadfastly in your worship all 52 weeks of 2020 (Acts 2:42).

HAPPY - PURE IN HEART “Now the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart…” (1 Timothy 1:5). Only the pure in heart will see God (Matthew 5:8).

HAPPY - PURE IN HEART Christians must love one another fervently out of a pure heart (1 Peter 1:22).

HAPPY – PROGRESS OR GROWTH
“Desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2). Speak the truth in love and grow up into Christ in all things (Ephesians 4:15).

HAPPY – PROGRESS OR GROWTH
“Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

HAPPY - YIELD Yield not to temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13).
Yield your members as instruments of righteousness and holiness unto the Lord your God (Rom. 6:13, 19).

NEW - NEGLECT NOT Neglect Not your talents (Matthew 25:14-30).
Neglect Not so great a salvation (Hebrews 2:3).

NEW - EXAMINE SELF Let a man examine himself (1 Corinthians 11:28).

NEW - EXAMINE SELF Jesus tells us to take the log out of our own eye so we can see clearly to take the speck out of our brother’s eye (Matthew 7:3-5).

NEW - EXAMINE SELF Prove your own self (2 Corinthians 13:5).

NEW – Work Work while it is day, the night comes when no man can work (John 9:4). Please turn in your Song book to #396.

NEW – Work All things will work together for your good when you love God (Romans 8:28).

NEW – Work “Work out you own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philippians 2:12).

YEAR - Yoke Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). Take Jesus’ yoke upon you and learn of Him, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light (Matthew 11:29-30).

YEAR - Exercise Use the word and exercise your senses to discern good and evil (Hebrews 5:14).

YEAR - Exercise Bodily exercise is of little profit, so exercise thyself unto godliness, for godliness is profitable unto all things (1 Timothy 4:7).

YEAR - Ask “Ask and it will be given to you” (Matthew 7:7).
Ask in faith and all things will be possible (Mark 9:23).

YEAR - Ask If we ask according to His will, we know we will have the things we desire (1 John 5:14-15).

YEAR - Redeemed “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us” (Galatians 3:13).

YEAR - Redeemed We have been redeemed from all iniquity (Titus 2:14) by the precious blood of Jesus (1 Peter 1:18-19).

FIVE SUGGESTIONS (1) Make up your mind to be happy, for “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (Proverbs 17:22).

FIVE SUGGESTIONS (2) Locate life’s center, which is Jesus Christ and Him crucified (Galatians 2:20; John 14:6).

FIVE SUGGESTIONS (3) Define life’s purpose, which is to fear, please and glorify God as you keep His commandments (Ecc. 12:13-14; Isaiah 43:7).

FIVE SUGGESTIONS (4) Make the most of your time and blessings, knowing that in 2020 there will still be evil days (Ephesians 5:16).

FIVE SUGGESTIONS Even so, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:11-13).

FIVE SUGGESTIONS (5) Do a good work for someone else (Ephesians 2:10), for “it is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).
