Question 1: After reading pages 456 & 457, how would you describe the author’s tone as she explains how she feels about summer? Be sure to provide evidence from the text to support your answer.

Question 2: Read page 458, what do the anecdotes about her trips to Tennessee add to your understanding of the author’s childhood? Use examples from the story to support your answer.

Question 3: Read page 459, what do the details in the passage tell about Hansberry’s feelings toward summer? Describe those feelings. How does the illustration on pg. 459 add to the description?

Question 4: List the words that Hansberry used to describe her feelings about the dying woman? Hansberry calls the summer “the noblest of seasons”. Explain what she means by this phrase.
