ROLL OF A HSW A Housing Support Worker helps individuals with complex needs (ages ), and individuals who are at risk of becoming homeless find and maintain safe affordable housing. HSW’s will help navigate systems to find programs that may benefit their clients.

A Day In The Life of a HSW…
Helping people secure emergency and permanent housing Helps people maintain their housing Eviction prevention Assist with landlord/tenant issues System navigation Advocacy Referrals Collects and distributes used furniture & household items to people in need Creates awareness about the local housing & homelessness issues that exist Continuously advocates for affordable & supportive housing

A day in the life of a HSW…
Meeting clients (Intake) Reassuring clients/calming clients Listening to clients stories and situations Starting the paperwork (applications for AES, applications for housing, emergency drug cards, food hampers, arranging emergency housing, to am a few). Provide transportation Teaching Life Skills Calls

A Day In the Life Of a Client
Where do I go? What do I do? How am I going to stay warm today? How am I going to eat today? Where am I going to sleep tonight? My children do not have any lunch today. How am I going to pay my power bill? I need to get to the hospital? I need help today; I can’t wait 30 days. I need low income housing now, I can’t wait weeks. How can I call the food bank, I do not have a phone.
