1 NRG Oncology Overview Kati Stoermer, NRG Executive Director
@NRGonc @KatiStoermer #NRG2020 NRG is a platform that brings together people who are passionate about changing the outcomes for patients with cancer.

2 NRG Oncology develops clinical trials that can change the conversation between a cancer patient and his/her doctor for the better. – Karen Hanna, NRG Clinical Trial participant

3 NRG Oncology is a platform that brings together researchers from across the globe together as we seek ways to win the battle against cancer.

4 NCI National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) Structure
NRG Oncology was formed as a collaboration by (3) long standing cancer clinical trial groups. Each group serves as a corporate member of our organization – shareholders, that participate on our Board of Directors. Each of these entities have a robust portfolio of activities outside of NRG Oncology, but it is important to understand those activities are separate from NRG. A key difference is NRG Oncology’s primary funding comes from Federal Grants, while our partner foundations focus on studies funded by industry. Image source:

5 Our Timeline NRG Members accrue over 11,000 patients to 87+ NRG trials 2012 NRG Oncology Foundation, Inc. formed 2012 2014 2019 2014 NRG Oncology Federal Funding Awarded 2019 NRG Oncology NCTN grant renews with “Exceptional” score In 2012, NRG Oncology was formed as a collaboration between (3) clinical research organizations who for decades existed within the previous NCI Cooperative Group System. With the transition to the current NCI National Clinical Trials Network, the (3) legacy groups – NSABP, GOG, and RTOG elected to collaborate together as NRG Oncology as part of the NCTN. In 2013, NRG Oncology submitted their inaugural grant for funding – to become a Lead Protocol Organization within the NCTN, and in short order followed with submissions as part of the NCORP as a Research Base as well as to seek support for our Biobanking program as NRG. Our efforts were successful in all cases, and in 2014 NRG Oncology was awarded federal grant funding from the NCI and many, many months of planning the structure, function, and operations of NRG Oncology came to fruition as we enrolled our first patient as NRG Oncology. Since then, NRG members have accrued over 11,000 patients to NRG trials and has nearly 1000 publications to its credit. In 2018, NRG Oncology submitted our renewal grant, which scored in the Exceptional range, and best among our peers. Our new grant cycle starts March 1, 2019 for 6 years.
