Actors given “rules” to choose behaviors Network processes: Influence and selection Observe systems level characteristics that emerge from individual behavior Cannot always do equilibrium math Careful: It’s theory There is no data Should anchor simulations in empirical work Do not try to be authentic Too many parameters in real systems Reduce to a small number of parameters (3), understand their implications

4 What Is Netlogo NetLogo is a programmable modeling environment for simulating natural and social phenomena. Netlogo is particularly well suited for modeling complex systems developing over time. NetLogo lets students open simulations and "play" with them, exploring their behavior under various conditions.
