Criteria 1 Children from socially disadvantaged circumstances born between 2 July 2016 and 1 July 2017 (both dates inclusive) Note: Children from ‘socially disadvantaged circumstances’ means a child whose parent is in receipt of (i) Income Support, or (ii) Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, or (iii) an award of Income Support which has been converted into an Employment and Support Allowance and the level of benefit remains the same, or (iv) Universal Credit. When parents apply for places for their child on this basis they must have their Benefit Verification stamped by the Social Security /Jobs and Benefits Office to confirm that they are in receipt of a qualifying payment. This should then be sent by the parent directly to the provider of first preference.

Criteria 2 Children born between 2 July 2016 and 1 July 2017 and are not socially disadvantaged (both dates inclusive) Admissions Sub-Criteria In the event of oversubscription within any of the above criteria, the following sub-criteria will be applied in the order indicated to identify children for admission:- Children for whom Fair Hill Nursery Unit is first preference and whose brother/sister, presently attends Fair Hill Primary School (excluding Nursery Unit) or whose siblings have applied to attend the main Fair Hill Primary School on 1st September 2020.

b) Children for whom Fair Hill Nursery Unit is first preference and for whom:
Fair Hill Primary School or, former Carnew Primary School or, former Gransha Primary School or, former Kinallen Primary School is or was the nearest Controlled Primary School from the child’s home; c) Children for whom Fair Hill Nursery is first preference and who at the date of the application, are the eldest child of the family to be eligible to apply for admission to the school. Including cases where the eldest sibling is not eligible to attend mainstream school or cases where a child is more than 7 years younger than their next eldest sibling;

d) Children will be selected for admission on the basis of initial letter of surname (as entered on Birth Certificate) in order set out below:- F Z Y P B M C W E N K Q J A R H G D T V O I U X L S This order was determined by a randomised selection of the letters of the alphabet. In the event of surnames beginning with the same initial letter the subsequent letters of the surname will be used in normal alphabetical order. In the event of two identical surnames the normal alphabetical order of the initials of the forenames will be used. e) If required thereafter, selection will be by means of computerised random selection.

When considering which children should be selected for admission, the Governors will only take into account information which is detailed on the online portal or attached to the application form. Parents should therefore ensure that all information pertaining to their child and relevant to the nursery’s admissions criteria is stated on the online portal, the application form or sent into school. Examples include: *Proof of social disadvantage, *Siblings who are at the school, *Eldest/only child *Fair Hill or amalgamated schools being closest controlled primary school.

The Board of Governors will apply the following criteria in the order indicated to identify which children should be admitted to P1. 1 Children who will have brothers or sisters in attendance at Fair Hill Primary School during the 2020/2021 school year. 2 Children for whom Fair Hill Primary School or the former Carnew or Gransha or Kinallen Primary School is the nearest Controlled Primary School to the child’s home. 3 Children for whom Fair Hill Primary School or the former Carnew or Gransha or Kinallen Primary School is not the nearest Controlled Primary School to the child’s home.

In the event of the number of applicants meeting criterion 1 or criterion 2 or criterion 3 being greater than the number of places available the following sub-criteria will be applied as appropriate in the indicated order to identify the children to be selected:- Children, who at the date of the application, are the eldest child of the family to be eligible to apply for admission to the school. Including cases where the eldest sibling is not eligible to attend mainstream school or cases where a child is more than 7 years younger than their next eldest sibling Other children.

APPLICATIONS AND ADMISSIONS TO PRIMARY 1
Should over-subscription occur when a particular sub-criterion is applied priority will be given to those children living closest to the school, measured on an OS map as the crow flies, from the front gate of the school to their house entrance at the roadway. School in this context is interpreted as the nearest of the following to the child’s home: Fair Hill Primary School or the former Carnew or Gransha or Kinallen Primary School. What’s next Applications must be made by 30th January 12 noon
Governors meet after 7th February, when all documentation is with the first preference school, to consider applications. Criteria to be included on your application: (1) Older siblings who attend the primary school (2) Closest primary school to home (including the three amalgamated schools) (3) Eldest/only child Final spaces are decided by straight line distance on an OS map from the front gate of the school to their house entrance at the roadway. ‘School’ is the closest of the amalgamated schools or Fair Hill PS Friday 7th February :You will have until 12 noon to bring supporting documentation for all listed preferences to your 1st preference school. Letter of placement: Tuesday 28th April 2020
