1 Volume Replicator 3.5 New Features
Web GUI Web-based management console Simplified framework for off-host processsing Define and execute scripts to automate procedure Offline Data Verification Single command to verify that primary and secondar data are exactly the same Enhancements in administrative interface Commands to delete primary Ability to set the same replication attributes on all nodes Ablity to start resynchronization of Secondary from any node Firewall support Configure VVR to replicate in a firewall environment New Features in This Release This release of VERITAS Volume Replicator includes the following features: Volume Replicator Web Console (VRW) VRWis theWeb-based GUI for VVR. For details, see the Volume ReplicatorWeb Console Administrator’s Guide and Volume Replicator Web Console Release Notes. Simplified Framework for Using IBC messaging With Off-host Processing Earlier, using IBC messaging for off-host processing required execution of multiple commands on multiple hosts. Now, VVR provides the vradmin ibc command, which simplifies this task and enables you to define and execute scripts to automate the procedure. Offline Data Verification The vradmin syncrvg command and the vradmin syncvol commands have been enhanced to verify whether the Primary and Secondary data is identical. This data verification can only be done while application is inactive. Integration of VERITAS Volume Replicator Administrative Services With VxVM and VVR The Volume Replicator Administrative Services (VR-AS) package has been merged with the VERITAS Volume Manager package. This provides simplified installation of VVR and avoids compatibility issues between VVR and VR-AS. Firewall Support Now you can configure VVR to replicate in a firewall environment. For more information, see the VERITAS Volume Replicator Configuration Notes.

2 Volume Replicator 3.5 New Features
Support for Layered SRL Simplified Upgrade Procedure New VVR commands Remove primary from RDS Replay a DCM that is active Display VVR and VxVM memory pool statistics Display names of the Rlinks that are associated with the specific RVG Display names of data volumes that are associated with specific RVG Display application statistics Support for Layered SRL In the earlier releases of VVR, the SRL could not be configured as a stripe-mirror volume. In this release of VVR, the SRL can be a striped-mirror volume. If you want to convert an existing mirror-stripe SRL, use the following command: # vxassist -g diskgroup convert srl layout=stripe-mirror Simplified Upgrade Procedure This release of VVR includes scripts to simplify the upgrade procedure. For instructions, see the VERITAS Volume Replicator Administrator’s Guide. New Tunables Two new tunables have been included in this release: vol_dcm_replay_size, and vol_nm_hb_timeout. Refer to the VERITAS Volume Replicator Configuration Notes for information about these tunables. New Mode of SRL Protection—autodcm By default, SRL protection is set to autodcm; if the SRL is about to overflow, VVR switches automatically to dcm logging mode and writes continue. Previously, writes were throttled until either the RLINK disconnected or until 20MB or 5% of the SRL, whichever is lower, was free. New VVR Commands In addition to the above enhancements, VVR provides new commands to perform the following tasks: To remove a Primary from its RDS vradmin delpri To replay a DCM that is active because of an SRL overflow or failback logging, that is, to incrementally synchronize the Secondary. vradmin resync To display the VVR and VxVM memory pool statistics. vxmemstat To prematurely terminate the receive and regrecv operations before the IBC message arrives on the Secondary. vxibc stoprecv To display the names of the RLINKs that are associated with the specified RVG. vxrvg getrlinks To display the names of the data volumes that are associated with the specified RVG. vxrvg getdatavols To display application statistics for the specified RVG vxrvg stats
