1 Chapter 3 – Burris Ewell upsets Miss Caroline. Ewell's Described.
Miss Caroline doesn’t point to the desk nor the floor but at a big child who is unknown to Scout and Little chuck Little says ‘You mean him, ma’am? Yessum, he’s alive. Did he scare you in someway?’ Which to me shows that this kid who she is pointing at, is very scary and no-one really wants to near or around him. In his hair was lice or knits and as Miss Caroline walked passed one lively knit crawled out his hair, ‘ I was just walking by when it crawled out of his hair… just crawled out of his hair.’ which to this Little Chuck little said ‘There ain’t no need to fear a cootie, ma’am. Ain’t you never seen one?’ this shows how out of place Miss Caroline is, and how she isn’t use to this kind of school, and this kind of town. She is like a fish out of water. This big child is Burris Ewell, he is a red neck and is part of a huge, disgusting family and there are kind of outlaws to the county of Maycomb. Little Chuck Little is more street wise and more knowledgeable about their current surroundings. He almost patronises Miss Caroline away and to keep clear of it, ‘Which way did he go, Miss Caroline?’ When scout returns to school she is met by Miss Caroline screaming and shouting ‘Its Alive!’ as she hid from the knits or ‘cooties’ in Burris Ewell’s hair.
