Thou shall not use a computer in ways that may harm people.

Words CAN be hurtful- even if they are typed and not said.
Do not use your computer to hurt anybody in anyway. Many times things we type can hurt somebody’s feelings so make sure you are not using your computer to say things that you wouldn’t say to the person if you could see them.

THOU SHALT NOT INTERFERE WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S COMPUTER WORK.
Do not use computer technology to cause interference in other users' work.

You need to be responsible with your computer and internet usage
You need to be responsible with your computer and internet usage. Do not use your computer or internet privileges to get in the way of or ruin others’ hard work in any way. Do not delete files that do not belong to you. Do not edit or change another person’s work without permission from that person.

THOU SHALT NOT SNOOP AROUND IN OTHER PEOPLE'S COMPUTER FILES.
Simply put: Do not spy on another person's computer data.

You should NEVER go into another person’s s or personal files without permission from that person. s are private conversations and are only meant for the person who the is being sent to. Files on somebody’s computer are also private and should not be looked at without permission.

THOU SHALT NOT USE A COMPUTER TO STEAL.
Simply put: Do not use computer technology to steal information.

Do not use your computer to break into personal files of another to take something that doesn’t belong to you. Doing this is illegal and you will get into trouble with this person or the police.

THOU SHALT NOT USE A COMPUTER TO FALSE WITNESS
Simply put: Do not contribute to the spread of misinformation using computer technology.

You should not put false or fake information into the world or on the internet. The internet is a place where many people go to find information- you should make sure you are being truthful.

THOU SHALT NOT COPY OR USE PROPRIETARY SOFTWARE FOR WHICH YOU HAVE NOT PAID.
Simply put: Refrain from copying software or buying pirated copies. Pay for software unless it is free.

Do not download or save files that you have not rightfully paid for
Do not download or save files that you have not rightfully paid for. This includes music, movies, TV shows, art, etc. There are a lot of illegal sites out there that let you download and take software and other documents without paying for them. DO NOT ever do this! You can get in major trouble and even have to pay a fine or go to jail!

THOU SHALT NOT USE OTHER PEOPLE'S COMPUTER RESOURCES WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION OR PROPER COMPENSATION.
Simply put: Do not use someone else's computer resources unless authorized to.

Never use a program without paying for it
Never use a program without paying for it. Before putting a program or software on your computer make sure you have the permission of the company and that you have paid for it necessary.

THOU SHALT NOT APPROPRIATE OTHER PEOPLE'S INTELLECTUAL OUTPUT.
Simply put: It is wrong to claim ownership on a work which is the output of someone's else's intellect.

Do not use your computer or the internet to take another person’s work (report, article research paper, etc.) and use it as your own. This is called plagiarism and it is illegal.

THOU SHALT THINK ABOUT THE SOCIAL CONSEQUENCES OF THE PROGRAM YOU ARE WRITING OR THE SYSTEM YOU ARE DESIGNING. Simply put: Before developing a software, think about the social impact it can have.

If you design something to be put on the internet or for others to use THINK about what could or might happen. Could anything bad happen? If the answer is “yes” think about how you avoid the bad things or make them less likely to happen.

Simply put: In using computers for communication, be respectful and courteous with the fellow members.

This is the biggest commandment to remember. Always use your computer and internet sites in a way that is respectful to both yourself and others. Do not post hurtful or harmful words. Always remember that others can see what you put out there on the internet. Treat others in the way that you would want to be treated!
