Samuel Champlain believed that it was his responsibility to share the Roman Catholic religion. It resulted in catholic missionary priests coming to North America to try to convert the First Nations people to Catholicism. The Jesuits were the people that first arrived in New France in They established a college for the sons of settlers at Quebec in 1635, and established hospitals and convents by bringing groups of nuns to New France. The Jesuits built mission churches and schools for the Huron between 1639 and Their headquarters were located in the mission of Sainte Marie in Huronia.

The First Nations people had to change their way of life when the Roman Catholic religion came into perspective, because they had there own ways of living and they had their own beliefs and disbeliefs. The First Nations people choose to live their own way but when the French came, with the Roman Catholic religion, they ended up having to go with what the nuns and jesuits did and said. It also affected the future generations because they would learn about the Roman Catholic religion instead of their traditional beliefs.
