2 OASV Membership OASV maintains a membership yearly of approximately 55 members Members included are veterinarians in private practice, industry, government, research and academia An OASV executive is elected by the membership yearly at our Annual General Meeting Active student membership

5 OASV Meetings OASV usually has 4 meetings throughout the year:
Annual General Meeting (AGM)- June (Usually coincides with the Ontario Pork Congress) Annual Fall Conference- October Winter Meeting- February Spring Meeting- April (Usually coincides with the London Swine Conference)

6 Fall Conference Highlights
Took place October 28th, 29th at the Kingsbridge Conference Centre Guest Speaker: Paisley Canning- 1) Diagnostic considerations for lameness 2) Treatment considerations for infectious lameness Guest Speaker: Bernard Tobin: Farm and Food Care- Answering tough questions- Building public trust in agriculture -Bernard Tobin- Compiled a list of questions in advance from the OASV membership and based his presentation around these questions. -Ask members to formulate a response to a person with no knowledge on the subject.

7 2017 Fall Conference Details
The 2017 OASV fall conference will take place on October 27th, 28th at the Pillar and Post Hotel in Niagara on the Lake! Working on the conference itinerary currently Updates will be posted to the website:

8 NEW OASV Website OASV has a new website! Demo website: www.oasv.ca
All meeting proceedings will be posted to this website for membership reference Membership dues and registration for the fall conference can happen directly through the website now Imagery on the website give OASV a “fresh new look” OASV sponsors can be formally recognized

9 Industry Collaboration
OASV works collaboratively with our provincial industry partners Industry partners include (but aren’t limited too): Swine Health Ontario, Ontario Pork, Ontario Swine Health Advisory Board (OSHAB), Ontario Animal Health Network (OAHN)

10 OASV Prize (Student Award)
$1000 Student registered in Phase 1 or 2 of the DVM program who shows an active interest in pursuing a career in swine health management Selection based on essay describing a current issue facing the swine industry 2016 Recipient: Hannah Golightly Presented by the Ontario Association of Swine Practitioners. Apply by letter, stating swine industry experience to date, and include the required essay, to the Associate Dean's, Students, O.V.C., in the Fall during the call for applications from the Dean's office. Selection will be based on the best essay submitted describing an issue facing the swine industry. Donor(s): Ontario Association of Swine Practitioners Qualification(s): Student registered in Phase I or Phase II of the D.V.M. program who shows an active interest in pursuing a career in swine health management. Amount: 1 award of $1,000
