2 What are T Levels? T Levels are a brand new, 2-year qualification
They bring classroom learning and an extended industry placement together on a course designed with businesses and employers. Provide students with the chance to learn what a real career is like while they continue their studies. They are a sort of hybrid A Level / Apprenticeship

3 Why T level ? Offers a unique combination of study and work experience
Work experience can be with more than one employer and/or occupational specialism so that by year two students can make an informed choice about their occupational specialism Equates to three A levels and will carry UCAS points Keeps options open can progress into skilled employment, further study or higher apprenticeship

4 UCAS Points The Tariff points allocated for each overall grade are as follows: UCAS Tariff points T Level overall grade 168 Distinction* 144 Distinction 120 Merit 96 Pass (C or above on the core) 72 Pass (D or E on the core)

5 T Levels for 2020 Digital production, design and development
Design, surveying and planning (construction) Education (and childcare) Digital production, design and development Learn the essentials behind all digital roles by understanding data and digital systems, how software and business interact, security, testing, planning and legal issues. You then build on this by developing specialist skills in understanding user needs and designing and developing digital systems. Design, surveying and planning (construction) Your course starts by helping you get to grips with core knowledge of how the construction industry works, the principles of design and the role of technology and sustainability. You will then have the chance to specialise in one of these areas: building services design civil engineering hazardous materials analysis and surveying surveying and design for construction and the built environment Education Everyone studies a core curriculum of child development, how education works plus important topics like safeguarding and special educational needs. You can then focus on one of these areas: early years education and childcare assisting teaching supporting and mentoring students in further and higher education

You will then have the chance to specialise in the engineering associated with at least one of these areas: air conditioning electrical and electronic equipment electrotechnical gas heating plumbing protection systems refrigeration ventilation Digital business services Learn the essentials of all digital roles by understanding data and digital systems, how software and business interact, security, testing, planning and legal issues. You then build on this by developing specialist skills as a data technician to understanding how to source, analyse and interpret data to support business needs. Digital support services Learn the essentials of all digital roles by understanding data and digital systems, how software and business interact, security, testing, planning and legal issues. You will then have the chance to specialise in one of these areas: digital infrastructure digital support network cabling unified communications Healthcare science Your course starts with the essential knowledge and skills to work in healthcare or science including how the industry works, core scientific concepts and key regulations including managing information, health and safety and good scientific/clinical practice. You will then have the chance to specialise in at least one of the following areas: assisting with healthcare science dental services (making dental devices) optical care services pharmacy services prosthetic and orthotic technical services Onsite construction Your course starts by helping you get to grips with core knowledge of how the construction industry works, the principles of design and the role of technology and sustainability. You will then have the chance to specialise in at least one of these areas: bricklaying carpentry and joinery painting and decorating Plastering Science Your course starts with the essential knowledge and skills to work in science or healthcare including how the industry works, core scientific concepts and key regulations including managing information, health and safety and good scientific/clinical practice. animal sciences food sciences laboratory services metrology (measurement) sciences Health Your course starts with the essential knowledge and skills to work in health or science including how the industry works, core scientific concepts and key regulations including managing information, health and safety and good scientific/clinical practice. You can specialise in dental nursing or supporting healthcare. If you choose supporting healthcare, you will focus on at least one of these areas: adult nursing care care of children and young people mental health midwifery theatre therapy

11 Entry Criteria Standard College entry criteria of 5 GCSE at grade 4 or above Level 2 one year transition course available if students do not manage to obtain 5 GCSEs at required level

12 Timetable Based on current information the planned timetable is :
Students attend college 2.5 days a week and are in their work placement 2 days a week We will arrange work placements and where we can arrange them near to the student’s home

13 Core Assessment Written Exam – currently this is multiple choice and covers Y1 and Y2 material – will assess the knowledge and understanding in the Core Plus: Coursework Assessment - Synoptic Project completed through the industry placement 3 Stages : Plan Activity based in the workplace DO Carry out the activity, this will be observed by the College (moderated by NCFE) and triangulated with the activity plan, evidence of creation of resources etc. by student Review A reflection of the activity- also serves to authenticate the observation

14 Grading of T levels The T Level certificate will include:
an overall pass grade for the T Level, shown as pass, merit or distinction a separate grade for the occupational specialism, shown as pass, merit or distinction a separate grade for the core component, using A* to E grades for maths and English qualifications as appropriate details of the industry placement

15 PSC offer progression route to degree and qualification as Primary School Teacher
The college delivers foundation degrees and top up to full BA hons in Teaching and Learning support, or Early Years, or Special Educational Needs. Programmes are delivered one day a week from 1-7pm over 3 years Fees are £5300 p.a. Students draw down student loans in the normal way Student can continue to work in a vocationally relevant setting whilst completing their degree Progression to PGCE or schools direct programme to qualify as a teacher
