Listening to end users – Business Challenge O&G
What we have we learned from O&G end users: O&G customers typically have production sites widely varying in maturity, culture, organization, size, asset age, etc. ISO14224 is a good start but not an all encompassing solution Effect on maintenance management: Standardizing Maximo Maintenance Master Data across a large asset base is a challenge Effect on the company: Bad data leads to HSE risk, reduced output and increasing maintenance costs 2 min: Do you recognize this, what is your experience
4
Typical wins for large O&G companies
Over the past 20 years we have found many benefits for improving and standardizing Maximo Maintenance Master Data in O&G: Eliminate over-maintenance: 15-30% preventive maintenance spend reduction Preventing under-maintenance 25-50% unscheduled downtime reduction Additional benefits: HSE compliance, spare parts optimization, Work Order back log reduction, maintenance capex/opex control Return on Investment confirmed by O&G end users: $1 invested leads to $10 to $15 in recurring performance improvement Investment typically earned back within first 12 months Data standardization examples: 5 min

Data quality enables safety and reliability
Reliability into Daily Practice Root Cause Analysis KPIs Work Processes Risk Based Maintenance BOM & Critical Spares RCM RBI Asset and PM Library Safety and Integrity Hazop Performance Standards Safety Critical Equipment Asset Register Checks Master Data Management 3 min: Data is foundation for mature reliability and safety culture I will go through 5 steps of data standardization of PM data. Develop data standards Prioritize Standardize Deploy Improve Asset Register Build EAM & APM Blueprinting
6
Solution Step 1 – Develop Data Standard
Should you simply apply the standard? 5 min ISO14224 standard: + Most apply taxonomy and call it ISO14224 + Who collects reliability data based on ISO14224?
7
Solution Step 2 - Prioritize
Visualize which critical assets have low performance Effect on Availability when asset fails Performance drill down report for critical assets Probability of Asset Failure Focus on high critical assets 2 minute: Comparison tool Group data on asset types Find top 10 to start and focus on Drill down indicates performance loss because of insufficient preventive maintenance
8
Solution Step 3 - Standardize
Use Library with data templates to standardize and improve Maximo data quality and asset performance for critical Equipment Types Template content for O&G equipment (ISO14224): Asset Components Failure Modes Preventive Maintenance Schedules Maintenance Task Descriptions Optimized PM data templates for each Asset Type 5 min: 10 year experience of building maintenance libraries in O&G, mainly partner with Shell. Structured on ISO14224 classes Between 100 and 150 templates to keep it managable Living program is keep to make it a success SME/Technical Authorities should own the content, not the process In larger (multi nationalas) Localization is to be expected Fast implementation of baseline best practices Proven method to start of reliability program Prioritizition makes it possible to fit to all organizational needs (top 2 to all asse types) Creating templates is an important part of the success. MaxGrip has a library of 100 proven maintenance templates ready to be used in Maximo as is or can be altered to your specific needs.
9
Solution Step 4 - Deploy Copy templates to Assets or Locations manually and/or by using automated business rules Match asset group to template Automated business rules (Where Clauses) Localize template Manual selection of Assets and Locations Apply data template Operationalize data (grouping, peak shaving etc) 5 min Process is mature and tested Can be done partly automated
10
Solution Step 5 – Monitor and optimize
After standardizing and improving the Maximo Master Data, use BIRT, Start Center and Cognos for monitoring and optimization. Use data quality and performance reporting to monitor and optimize 2 min: Living program
11
Case study: Oil and Gas Major implementation of PML
Goal of Preventative Maintenance Library: Good quality localized PM strategies based on global library Sufficient coverage of equipment types PM compliance LNG plant, 2 trains. ~100,000 tags, 7000 PM $1.3M recurring annual costs savings 3 min
12
Wrap up Good data is the basis for good asset performance management.
Agree upon a standard; ISO14224 good start but needs details to apply. Consistent and rigorous application of the standard Prioritize efforts to ensure quick wins and fast value Develop a library and Apply templates of standardized maintenance data. It is a proven way to establish baseline to improve on. Standardization is most effective as a living program approach If you would like more information, visit at booth 110 5 min
