2 What are we investing in?
A new programme of investment from 1st October 2019 to 2021/2022 Prevention and early intervention focused £6.7million in total split over five sub-programmes 1-2 year grants / 3 year contracts Must benefit older people and/or adults with mental health conditions and/or adults with disabilities Advice and support (including peer support); Affordable warmth and fuel poverty; Arts and culture; Bereavement; Community and day opportunities; Capital (including adaptations and improvements of buildings, which can support community inclusion); Digital inclusion; Employment, volunteering and skills; Housing and hoarding; Partnerships; Sport and physical activity; Transport.

7 Community Opportunities
Ensuring financial viability of community opportunities Supporting diversification of resources – Direct Payments, Self-Funders, Volunteers Diversity of attendees Must benefit older people and/or adults with mental health conditions and/or adults with disabilities Two year grant awards, reviewed and renewed annually At least 50% of attendees must not have an assessed care need Up to 70% of costs provided by BCC Restricted to current Third Sector Grants providers Organisations restricted to a single bid of £200K per annum or multiple partnership bids with £100K cap for lead partner Submissions required for the end of June From overall grants budget of £2.45million per annum

8 Community Inclusion Supporting inclusion of people with disabilities and/or mental health conditions in community activities, services and networks Smaller scale activities and services Training and development of community assets Capital improvements to aid accessibility for excluded groups Grants of £10K-£25K One-offs/One year/Two years Revenue grants restricted to organisations and groups with an annual turnover of less than £100K Capital grants restricted to organisations with an annual turnover of less than £500K Locality/Constituency based Submissions required for the end of July From overall grants budget of £2.45million per annum

Grants of £25K+ per annum Two years, reviewed annually Revenue and/or capital Organisations restricted to a single bid of £200K per annum or multiple partnership bids with £100K cap for lead partner Existing - Restricted to current Third Sector Grants providers (May to June) Submissions required by the end of June From overall grants budget of £2.45million per annum

10 New and emerging relationship with adult social care
Must benefit older people and/or adults with mental health conditions and/or adults with disabilities: Advice and support (including peer support); Affordable warmth and fuel poverty; Arts and culture; Bereavement; Community and day opportunities; Capital (including adaptations and improvements of buildings, which can support community inclusion); Digital inclusion; Employment, volunteering and skills; Housing and hoarding; Partnerships; Sport and physical activity; Transport. Grants of £25K+ per annum Two years, reviewed annually Revenue and/or capital Organisations restricted to a single bid of £200K per annum or multiple partnership bids with £100K cap for lead partner Restricted to organisations not currently funded through Third Sector Grants Restricted to organisations with an annual income of less than £1million or with a registered Birmingham address Later submission date of end of July Minimum budget allocation of £500K per annum ring-fenced out of overall grants budget of £2.45million per annum

13 Grants – investment approach
Far more flexibility VCSE orgs come up with the ideas and proposals Leaner and simpler award process Renew and refresh in 2021 before the Commonwealth Games (to promote inclusion in the Games) Emphasis is on making the case for investment to the Council Must satisfy “Citizens”, “Communities”, “Behaviours and Culture” Must be at least cost-neutral
