Purpose The objective of the FIRST Program is to advance world-leading research carried out in various fields across of spectrum of tiers from basic research aimed at generating new knowledge to R&D on topics of near-future application. In so doing, the program’s ultimate objective is to cultivate the nation’s latent strengths and capabilities, while feeding the R&D results back into society to enrich people’s lives. JSPS London 7

This slide is an example of career development under our programmes. You could start with the Summer Programme and the Short-Term Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme. After these fellowship experiences, you’d be familiar with Japanese culture and would have networks with Japanese universities or research institutes. For the next step, the Postdoctoral Standard Fellowship Programme is recommended to apply. You can conduct collaborative research with Japanese counterpart for up to 2 years.
