8. Disable or enable Restricted mode
Restricted mode is an optional setting that you can use on YouTube to help screen out potentially mature content that you may prefer not to see or don't want others using your device to see.
To turn on restricted mode on YouTube, go to and select options next to the Sign in button
Click restricted Mode: Off
Enable ‘ACTIVATE RESTRICTED MODE’

Parental controls can easily be set on: IPads, IPhones etc – you can set your own passcode that your child can’t use.
Click on ‘Settings’ on your iPad or iPhone
Click on ‘General’
Click on ‘Restrictions’
Click on ‘Enable Restrictions’ the enter a pin

Explicit Language.
When you disallow Safari, YouTube, Camera or iTunes the icons for these will disappear from your home screen – and you’ll find that URL and YouTube video links in s will no longer work.

Movies: allow all, don’t allow movies, or allow anywhere from G only up to 17
TV Shows: the equivalent set of options for TV as for movies
Apps: Similar again to movies and TV shows – allow all apps, don’t allow apps, or allow anywhere from 4+ up to 17+
In-App Purchases: simple On or Off, to allow or disallow In-App purchases. This one can be a godsend for parents with children/child who are drawn to ‘freemium’ iPad games.

You can also disallow installing and/or deleting apps. If you disallow installing apps it will remove the App Store icon and App Store links in s will no longer work.
Choosing to disallow deleting apps will remove the X icon on each app when you tap and hold on app to bring up the ‘wiggly icons’ – so nobody will be able to intentionally or inadvertently delete an app.

Click on ‘Settings’ on your iPad or iPhone

Specify the ‘Category(s)’ e.g. All Apps or a selection of categories.
Set Time amount for allowed App’s
And select ‘Set App Limit’

App limits - Amend locked app categories
Always Allowed – Select which Apps are allows allowed
Content & Privacy Settings – Block or enable iTunes purchases, Location services etc

Leisure ‘Screen time’ should be kept to under 2 hours per day
Take regular breaks when using any tech products
Should not use a device up to 1 hour before you go to sleep, as this can disrupt your ability to fall asleep
Never post your personal information, such as a phone number, home number, home address, or your location on any social networking site or through mobile apps like Snapchat or Instagram
Never meet in person with anyone you first “met” on the internet. If someone asks to meet you, tell your parents or guardian right away
Check with your parents before you post pictures of yourself or others online

50. In students planners: Advice for use of the iPad and online safety
Do not post inappropriate pictures of anyone
Never respond to mean or rude texts, messages. Delete s if you are unsure of source
You may need to delete friends who continuously bother you or post things that are not appropriate
Never share your password with anyone, including your best friend. The only people who should know your password are your parents or guardian
If you wouldn’t say something to another person’s face, don’t text it or post it online
Do not download or install software or anything on your computer or cell phone before checking with your parents or guardian
Use the privacy settings of social networking sites
If anything makes you feel uncomfortable online, while gaming or when using your phone, talk with your parents or guardian right away
