3 A Road Map to Safer Buildings in Wales
The Building Safety Expert Group was established last year to provide Welsh Government with a clear and informed sense of the parameters of a Welsh response to the issues raised in ‘Hackitt’. Membership included representatives from Fire and Rescue Services, Local Authorities, Approved Inspectors, the third sector and other relevant bodies. CHC was represent the sector and Newport City Homes also sat on the Group. The road map provides a considered steer to the Welsh Government regarding its ongoing response to the issues raised by the Hackitt Review. Recommendations in the road map flow through a buildings ‘life cycle’, from design and construction to occupancy. It discusses how these will require a new legislative framework to improve building safety. expert-group-road-map_0.pdf Building Safety 3
