7 The END OF THE BUFFALO Question: Why did the Government encourage the killing of Buffalo? Answer: They hoped that killing Native Americans’ primary food source would force the Natives onto reservations. They would starve to death if not.

Quanah Parker- Last chief of the Comanche's. Strongly opposed the settlement of West Texas. Forced to a reservation Promoted education, ranching, and farming. GREAT LEADER !! Cynthia Ann Parker- mother of Quanah Parker. Captured by Comanche's as a child and adopted their culture.
